The couple will reside in Anchorage, Alaska, after the wedding. of American Fork will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary with an open house Saturday, Sept. 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. at their home, 396 S. 300 East, American Fork. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. They request no gifts. The Slaters were married Sept. 18, 1928 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Slater has been a nurseryman, steel worker and church custodian. He retired from Geneva Steel in 1974 and as church custodian in 1984. Mrs. Slater helped her father, J.H. Wright, in the nursery business and worked at Christensen's Department Store for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Slater have also served as ordinance workers in the Provo LDS Temple for four and one-hayears, a work they both loved very much. They have also served in many other positions in lf Members of the Letitian Club met at the home of Carma Price for their annual summer party. Under the direction of chairman Shirley Tripp, the club enjoyed a wonderful meal, ending with a delightful homemade raspberry-pecan ice cream. Reed) Pulley, American Fork; Roy John (Roy) Slater, Charlo, Mont.; and Merrill N. Slater, American Fork. They have 12 grandchildren, 46 ' and three the church. The club also elected officers for next year at the party. Virginia Downs was named as president of the club, with Rose Smith as vice president. Barnes to serve in New Hampshire Lora Mae Barnes, daughter of Freeman Jay and Anna Mae Barnes of Lehi, h as been called to serve in the New Hampshire Manchester LDS Mission. She will speak in a sacrament service Sunday, Sept. 19, at 10:45 a.m. in the Lehi West Stake Center, 1900 N. 500 West. She will enter the Missionary Training Center on Sept. 22. Elder Jerime Hooley Elder Mathew Nielsen Jerime Hooley Mathew Nielsen returns from to report on Georgia Mission Georgia Mission Elder Jerime Hooley, son of LaRoy and Janette Hooley of Lehi, has recently returned from serving in the Georgia Atlanta LDS Mission. He will speak in a sacrament service Sunday, Sept. 19, at 10:30 a.m. in the Lehi 18th Ward Chapel, 1095 N. 300 West. Refreshments will be served that afternoon at the Hooley home, 1220 N. 1450 West, Lehi. Elder Mathew Nielsen, son of Marilyn Nielsen of Lehi and the late Donald V. Nielsen, has returned from serving in the Georgia Macon LDS Mission. He will speak in a sacrament service Sunday, Sept. 19, at 11:30 a.m. in the Lehi 1st Ward Chapel, 120 W. 200 South. Sarah Clark to serve in Minnesota Sister Sarah Clark, daughter of Eugene and Joanne Clark of Lehi, has been called to serve in the Minnesota Minneapolis LDS Mission. An open house will be held that afternoon at the family home, 211 E. Davis Lane, Lehi. Sister Clark will enter the Missionary Training Center on Oct. 6. Ben is the son of Terry and Melba Grimley of Lehi. For his service project, Ben organized boys to work on the Great Western Trail which will enable hikers to hike from Canada to Mexico. Ben wishes to thank all of his former and present scout leaders who have helped and encouraged him to achieve this award. l4-- J I Benjamin Grimley Matthew Peterson Matthew Virgil Peterson, son of LaMont and Vicki Jo Peterson of Lehi, was presented his Eagle Scout award on Aug. 29. He is a member of the Lehi 14th Ward. For his Eagle service project, Matthew organized a group of scouts to help form a portion of the Great Western Trail in American Fork Canyon.
