"Wind is bad enough, but when it's going across the courts it's almost impossible." The Lehi High School tennis team took a trip to Springville last Thursday and ended up playing a match in a out of the cross-win- canyon. Lane Andrus was the only netter to win his match as he defeated Justin Johnson in two tie breakers, 4-- 1 The young teams record is now 3 with losses to two Dixie teams. Grantsville is next on the schedule for the Pioneer netters and region wars will begin next week. At first singles, Dan Wilson fell to Scott Nance in a match that could have gone either way, Chris Boley was unable to defend against Brad Palfreyman as he fell 5-- 5-- 7. Beetdiggers beat Pioneer baseball team By DAN WILSON For just having two seniors and a sophomore-orienteteam, the Lehi High School baseball team "looked pretty good" according to assistant coach Lloyd Jacobson The Pioneers didn't have that many mistakes, butjustcouldn'tmatchup to the Jordan team as team as the Beetdiggers ran away with a got on base from walks and errors. "We had chances to score, but we just couldn't get the final hit or it was just a little off mark," commented Jacobson. d . 7-- The Pioneers have only played one game and are 1 for the season but this week should change that. The LHS sluggers are involved in somewhat of a tournament with games this whole week. On Monday they played Spanish Fork, Tuesday matched them with Granger and today they play Provo. Depending on the outcome of these games, they could also have a game on 0-- 0 victory. Sophomores Matt Felix and Jason Allan pitched the majority of the game as Felix pitched two innings and gave up one hit and no runs. Allan also gave up a single hit and one run. The Pioneers were unable to acquire even a hit in the game as they Friday. The only goal of the game came nine minutes into the second half when exchange student Mike Gerken dribbled the ball through defenders and shot past the goal keeper. Lehi went on to win the contest in the defensive battle. AF's defense was crucial in the first half as the Pioneers could only manage two shots on goal before but made up for it with ten shots in the second half.
