The annual Lehi banquet brought about a new twist in the awards banquet as the team and coaches decided that the team didn't have just one most valued player, but two. The players voted just a few days after the final game of the season for a team, offensive, and defensive MVP and also a Pride Award. Thecoaches tallied the votes and the team MVPracecamewithin three points between two players Cole Cooper and Dan Wilson. Cooper, a three time varsity starter and the e quarterback for the class 3A tournament was awarded one team MVP award. Wilson, a two year starter, the second leading rusher in the state and probably the biggest surprise of the season earned the second MVP honor. Both players were crucial to the Pioneers success this season with All-stat- Cooper controlling the offense through the air and Wilson supplying the ground attack and making key tackles as a linebacker on defense. 3:30, 5:30 Matt Ekins, a three year starter and theleadingreceiver in the state and 7:30 oa the awarded the Offensive MVP. Mike Mullen and Kirk Young received the Pride Award, which is given to the emotional leader and hardest worker on the team. Mullen was definitely the team leader who fired the team up when the intensity was low and got everyone psyched up to start the game. Young was one of the hardest workers on the team. "As a sopho-- ' more and junior he wasn't a starter, he was just an inch too short or a step too slow. But every time we looked around, the kid was in the weight room or just running in the gym," commented coach Jeff Kilts. With the seniors out, Kilts is looking to the juniors for next years team .
