Show Free Preu - Wednesday, December tine from Hyde Part We were about three block from the historic Royal Hall and were pri viledged to attend several concerts during the holidays. The highlight was to hear "The Messiah" presented by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus of which Prince Charles was a member. It was interesting to see ' how tight the security was because of Prince Charles' presence. There were Bobbies in every alcove and on every corner. They were dressed in full uniform there to protect Prince Charles. One of the saddest experiences was to walk through the parks and see so many old and lonely people sitting around the park benches looking so forlorn. That sight tore at our hearts. In the early morning and late afternoon, the wild Canadian geese would fly over our flat. They were flying between the Thaymea River and the water ponds in Hyde and Kensington Parks. Dec. 22 arrived and all 188 missionaries were invited to walk from the Hyde Park Chapel to the SUITS: Polyester $125.00 PolyWool Blends All Wool $135.00 $145.00 "Easy Care" PolyCotton Blend Long Sleeve Short Sleeve $28.50 $26.00 TIES: Imported 100 OVERCOATS: More than 132,000 copies of the 1991-9- 2 Provo White and Yellow Pages, published by U S WEST Direct, will be delivered to homes, business and public locations beginning Dec. 12. There was very little snow on the ground. We'd had a few snow storms that winter but the decorations and commercial aspect were just as abundant as in any large American city. A prize was given to the elder or sister who eould ask and give response to the most golden questions, Following the meal we all turned to the Hyde Park Chapel wnere we had a three-hotesti- mony meeting followed by the dis tribution of presents by Santa. On Christmas Day Sister Goodman prepared a dinner for 14 of us couples and two single sisters at the president's suite on Exhibition Road. At the day's end we called home and talked with our loved ones in Lehi and that topped off the day. We lucked out that winter of 1984-8as the weather was fairly mild. However in 1985-8- 6 it was so cold even the chimes on Big Ben wouldn't work. We felt very fortunate. Another special treat was to have our good friends, Rex and Aradell Zimmerman from home, come into the mission just eight months after us. So we had many good experiences with them which helped ease any homesickness. just south pf Kensington Gardens on the opposite side of the serpen A London Yuletide Page 7 Cook's Farm and Greenhouse A Memorable Christmas if , 11, 1991 1M) |
