Norm Faldmo, director of Planning and Construction, said the old Joseph Smith Building will be left intact during construction, because it is not possible, due to cost and space, to relocate students, faculty, staff and equipment temporarily. With completion of the new building, scheduled for Sept. 1991, the old one will be torn down. University planners are considering how the space made available then will be used.
