On the ensuing kickoff after Smith's scoring burst, Uintah started at their own 25 but gained only 1 yard in three plays. They puntedtothe50whereSmithagain got hold of the pigskin and sprinted 24 yards to the 26. A face mask penalty moved the ball to the 13, and three plays later Lehi quarterback Robert Calton danced into the end zone two scores within 3 minutes and 22 seconds. Sam Wadles PAT kicks were good on both scores and the Pioneers led Lehi-Uinta- h 35-2- 14-- 0. After two Ute punts and an interception of Calton's second pass, Lehi got the ball at Uintah's 32. Two passes to Wadley, for 15 and 17 yards, pushed the score to 20-- at the 2:14 mark and Wadley added the PAT for a 21-- bulge at the quarter. Lehi had only 68 total yards to Uintah's 22, but the Pioneers had points to show on the scoreboard. The second period was more of the same as Lehi earned four first downs, 90 yards, and two more touchdowns. Calton passed to 0 0 Wadley at 7:34 for the first; the PAT kick was wide, and then Calton ran in from the 1 with 1:26 on the clock for the second. Calton's pass to Clint Peck for two PAT points was successful. The half ran out with Uintah totalling only 5 yards on one completed pass (out of seven thrown), and a running play (out of four attempts). . In the third period, two "other teams came out to play. Lehi sputtered and Uintah was ignited. Two Ute interceptions helped the visitors' cause and 132 yards of offense didn't hurt them. Lehi ran for only 8 and passed for 54.
