"It's the biggest store in the county," Steve Allen says proudly. Allen says the "combination" store is a next logical step for Allen's, which has grown from the simple grocery store founded in Provo in 1944 to the group of four grocery stores, two drug stores and now the new Orem combination that includes variety offerings, all tour was scheduled Wednesday to see if the building spection qualified for occupancy. Allen said the store, like other Allen's, is an attempt to provide customer service while staying price competitive with local markets that don't offer those services. The new store will feature customer-unloa- d checkstands, but the store employees will bag and the grociers. "There's always a need for an organization that provides the goods and services at a competitive price," Allen says. Since signs indicate that local growth will come in the north end of the county, Allen said the new store is ideally located, and shows Allen's committment to providing good service from a locally owned and operated business. The store will employ between 65 and 80 persons. Construction was begun last January. ' yj o ALLEN'S new food, drug and variety store, located at 1950 N.
