Residents also complained that they had been informed of the decision by the school just a week before school was to begin. Durrant suggested that buses used to take students to the American Fork Junior High School, which begins at 8:30 a.m. and which is next to the subdivision, be used to pickup the students at three or four ligistically areas around the placed subdivision and take them to Shelley for that school's 9 a.m. opening. Jim Crittenden, director of transportation for the district who oversaw the evaluations of the hazardous routes, said the routes would be studied again when school starts to better evaluate the possible danger posed by early morning traffic and other hazards. Changes in the routes could come about as a result of those studies. Durrant also recommended that the board set up a committee to evaluate all of the hazardous routes, rather than having different groups do the evaluation. , r - r- Get Your Cleaning Ready For - A 756-501- 4 a orcs)n)L BARGAINS! In other action, the board defended its action in dropping an American Fork bus route from the Nob Hill Subdivision to the Shelley Elementary before a group of 50 to 60 concerned parents. The route was one of six hazardous routes dropped by the district after a survey rated those six at the bottom of the hazardous routes list The Nob Hill route was judged the least hazardous of the routes dropped. Dr. Cox explained that the state doesn't reimburse the district for the costs of busing elementary students who live within 1.5 miles of the school or secondary students who live within 2 miles of the school.
