Special Service District water treatment plant in south American Fork is being diked against the rising waters of Utah lake, said Garland Mayne, the manager of the planL Mayne said the citk in the northern end of the county, including Pleasant drove and' American Fork, came to the site with front'nd loaders Tuesday to build the dikes out of fill. He said the cities were more than willing to protect the investment they had made in the project. The height of the lake is now at an altitude of 4,49 J. 7 feet and will I I office complex at the special service district, they would go ahead with sandbagging of the complex. . "I've never seen the lake this high," said Mayne At the dike site fence Mayne pointed out a six-fowithin yards of the shore of the lake 'that had water up to the barbed wire section on top. Mayne expressed concern over the fact that the facility is "above design flows now." He explained that the state is studying a small rise several more feet before summer,' observed Mayne. He said the office building at the complex is at an altitude of 4,497.4 feet, and the Special Service District thought it would be prudent to build a dike to connect with an existing road just southeast of the plant ot , Mayne said Pleasant Grove's city engineer, jx Wimmer, said that the lake is expected to rise to approximately 4,495 feet above sea leveL "We thought this would be the right move to protect this regional facility," commented Mayne. He said that if, by chance, the lake actually starts to approach the expansion of the facility as the plant can't afford to exceed state or EPA standards.
