Win Gymnasts Earn 2nd Place i ii-""- " V-"$- Lehi's boys won the Lehi Invitational track and field meet Saturday by outscoring Wasatch Millard was third with 78 points with 18 other schools scoring during the meet. Phil Olson won the 800 (2:02.84) and and anchored the 1600 (4:34.00) medley relay to a first place finish. Olson also ran the final leg of the second place 1600 meter relay. Dave Stanley was a double winner for the Pioneers with first medals in the high hurdles (15.84) and the discus 133-10- 0. Lehi's other first place winner was Jim Fackrell who won the shot with a fine early season throw of 50'9". In the girls division, the Pioneers were third (48) behind Wasatch (124) and Grand (56). Clint Dalley 4. Phil Olson, David Stanley, Todd Yates and Jim Fackrell were first place winners for the Pioneer men in y Track and Field the annual Meet last Wednesday . Olsen was a double winner in the 800 and 1600 meter events while Stanley won the discus with a throw of 144'2". Yates took first place honors in the javelin with a throw oft 179'6" and Fackrell was tops in the shot at 47'6". Both of Olson's wins were new meet records. The fine Lehi runner posted a 2:01.3 time in the 800 to break PG's Steve Shoell's mark of 2:04.3 set in 1973. Olson's 1600 time of 4:31.1 bettered the time by AF's Craig Bean of 4:38.4 that was set in 1979. 1, In the. girls division, Teresa Price won the javelin at 94'10" and Wendy Gurney took the shot with a put of 32'4". Jennifer Adams was tops in the long jump at 13'10", ; AF won the mens team title with 88 (jj3 points. Under the coaching of Catherine Chatfield, the team lost by less than three points to Union High School. Park City and Gunnison tied for third and fourth. Lehi High team members included Lynette Davis, Melanie Kirkham, .Wendy Player, Diane Palmer, Suzanne Porter, Lori Robinson, Kathy Lawrence, Becky McCarrel, Kendra Smith, Kim Nelson, Kellie Jo Wilson, Geni Risner with Kim Barber as manager.
