To the Grand Coun Solid Waste Board for helping provi Castle Valley residents with free ’ trash pickup. On Sat., April 20th. the Solid Waste District hauled a huge amount of CV trash to the landfill (five dumpsters, two truckloads, and one trailer load of old tires-about 105 cu yds). Helping with the operation were Brian Axtell. Ernie Lisonbee, Jamie Kaveny. Terri and Tom Nixon. David Hawks, and Patches. BUSINESS LICENSES FOR CONDITIONAL USE PERMITS In order to conduct business within Castle Valley Town, an application to the Planning Commission for a conditional use must be made and approved by both the Planning Commission and Town Council in order to obtain a “conditional-use permit.” The conditional use permit is a resident's license to do business in Castle Valley Town. Castle Valley Town does not require a “Certificate of license" in addition to the conditional use permit. However, since there are some businesses needing the “Certifieate of License" for outside urposes, Castle Valley Town now oflgrs this certificate forafee of$lO per year. The certificate may be obtained when completing the annual Update and Registration Form. Update/Registration Forms are being mailed to all current conditional use permit holders, by the end of May. This form must be completed and returned by June 15th, in order for the Planing Commission to evaluate the status of each permit and thereby renew the permit. If the permitted businessis not GRAND COUNTY Two neighbors used to get along fine, but then one of them got a dog which barked at night and kept the other one awake. Now they are not speaking to one another: They are both feeling angry and frustrated, and the situation seems hopeless. What can they do? People involved in conflict often find themselves faced with these choices: 1) try to work it out face-toface; 2) ignore it and hope it goes away; 3) appeal to a third party to arbitrate; 4) seek legal counsel and litigate; 5) in extreme situations, they might want to hire an assassin and exterminate. Now, in Grand County, they have a new option: they can sit down with an unbiased panel, made up of trained volunteers, who will help them work out their own solutions. During the past few years a growing number of Grand County residents have seen a need for services to resolve the conflicts which continually arise in any community. Two years ago several Castle Valley residents formed a study group to learn More Conciliation, p. 5 CV SCHOLARSHIP Scholarship money is again available to graduating high school seniors who are Castle Valley residents. To be eligible, a senior must graduate this year and have been accepted by an institution of higher learning or a techniml training school. This scholarship money ($1500) will be divided among eligible currently operating, butis expected to students.
