I always feel horrible when I hear from the past County commission. No something like that. Well, we had to go small task, indeed. Book Cliffs Road: At its first two to town anyway, so we decided to go meetings, the powers of the Road Board were first diminished and then eliminated. Jimmy Walker was given 30 days’ severance pay, and all Road Board records, bank accounts, and other documents were to be turned over to the County clerk. No further work whatsoever can be undertaken by the Road Board. Hopefully this is the end of this hemorrhaging of Grand County funds. Funds that were to be spent on the Bookcliffs Road will now be available for more pressing County needs. Commercial Filming: A resolution submitted by the film Commission was not approved by the new Council, when it was pointed out to them that the wording of the resolution made it impossible to ascertain what was really being advocated. This was a hopeful sign that the new Council will be fair and look at both sides of the issues. Mosquito Abatement Board: The soap opera continues. After two meetings of squabbling, all four of the county positions on the board will be advertised for applications. County Council meetings are now being held the second and fourth Tuesday evenings of each month at 7 pm. The last meeting was held at the take a look. There were two female Siamese and two kittens. They were all so sweet it made me want to take them all home, but I knew I couldn’t. There was one kitten that was absolutely hyper to get out of his cage. I couldn’t bear to think that he would be put to sleep if someone didn’t get him. My mom and I went outside and talked it over. We decided to get the kitten. I felt better knowing I had saved one. There are so many cats that get put to sleep every month, it’s hard to believe! But getting your animal fixed makes all the difference. If one cat doesn’t get fixed and has babies, and all her babies have babies, and so on, there could be over 1,000 new cats in a year! So plege get your animals fixed! I know it costs a lot, but think of your animals! By getting one cat fixed, you can save the lives of many cats. Veterinarians have found that it is better if you get the cats fixed before they are fully developed. Usually they bleed less, and it’s less traumatic. Feline males can be fixed at three months, and females at five months. Contact your vet and find out when you can have your cat (or dog) spayed or neutered. ~_—Mara Ginnane allow research on whether there are any metal roofings available that do not have the glare problems that some residents have reported this past year.
