Goatheads are particularly prevalent this year and are spread by auto and truck tires. Don will also supervise putting more gravel over the creek crossing on CV Drive. It is hoped that building up the road at this point will not only retard the road’s washing out in a major flood but also decrease the existing dip. Chip sealing CV Drive was also discussed. According to information from John Groo's and Don Tuft’s meeting with County Commissioners, the County would pay for chip sealing CV Drive if we agree to Open anotherexit to Castle Valley. In this proposal the County would help us maintain the road, but primary responsibility would remain the town's. Resident concerns: increased traffic, possible thefts, safety of children, speeding, and broken promises. According to Floyd Stoughton, travel time would be increased for all but a few taking Shafer Lane instead of CV Drive. Concerns about dust have led to researching the paving of CV Drive. At the TC meeting Deputy Sheriff John McGann reported that if more that 400 cars and trucks pass on a dirt road it is in violation of Utah’s Clean Air Act. This means that the current speed limit in Castle Valley is 25 mph. SEISMIC UPDATE: BLM has asked the Town via Mayor Groo whether we would prefer helicopter noise for seven continuous days (12 hours per day) or 8 hours a day for two weeks.
