Show MAY 1992 - FUTURE TIMES - 9 Fire Department Notes I believe most residents of Castle Valley become concerned when they see any extensive burning taking place. They are concerned for both ecological and safety reasons. Last year there were 1,887 grass/ brush/tree fires reported in Utah. These were only the fires traceable to human origin as controlled burns. This hazard becomes more serious and more likely to occur as our population increases. There are two points of law contained in the Uniform Fire Code which, if they are obeyed, will help reduce the chances of a fire escaping: 1) Any open flame must be attended by a responsible person, continually, until it is extinguished or bums itself out. 2) An immediately available source of water, such as a garden hose connected to a water tap, must be at the scene of the fire. Let’s burn only when necessary, and then do it safely. — Floyd L. Stoughton, Fire Chief By Mara Ginnane Community Lot Launched On a clear and sunny day, after the threat of storm the day before, the traditional Castle Valley Easter Party was recommenced. Approximately forty residents shared food and talk on our community lot. We hunted for eggs, explored the terrain, played Joanna Ehlers, for the elms and poplars, volleyball, and tossed horseshoes. We look forward to the Easter party next year and to many such gatherings on if you want a copy sent to you each our community lot. It was a fine month and will furnish us with self- beginning. addressed, stamped #10 envelopes, we’ll stuff them and mail them to you for as long as your supply lasts. A Request and an Offer We are still trying to hit on the and Yogi and Donny Bowthorpe for the right number of newsletter copies to mulberries and in'ses. It is fun to share the successful overflows from each run. They disappear almost overnight, and we want to make sure everyone gets a copy, but we don’t want to pay other’s gardens. — Joan Sangree live here, or others who are gone frequently, have asked about subscriptions to this newsletter. We don’t want to get into any extra record keeping, but Thanks, friends Thank you, Terry Williams and for any more than we need. You can help by taking only one per family and/ or by passing your copy on to someone else (unless you’re keeping it in your scrapbook). Please let us know if you don't get a copy. Thanks.
