Show MAR 1992 - SPRING TIMES - 5 Here’s a Helping Hand One of the major pleasures that seems to have been lost in the busyness of modern life is the enjoyment of helping each other out. Where we used to have bam-raisings, we now hire a company or struggle alone. Where we used to get together for quilting bees, we now sit glassy-eyed in front of our videos. we’re trying. And to Linda Witkopf, thanks for her fresh ideas and the names of people who’ve been in CV for a while and might have stories to tell. Please be sure to include your name, your number, a description of your project, and the date you want the help. If your project is a success, and you want to express appreciation publicly, we’ll make room for it, as below: Thank you, Boy Scouts! I would like to thank the Boy Scouts and their Scout leader, Terry Williams, for helping me build my barn. With enthusiasm and expertise they put up my roof trusses in one day. I was grateful and relieved to watch from the ground as these 38-foot trusses were raised, the boys scrambling under Terry’s direction way above ground. That was a great introduction to community spirit of helping each other. —Joan Sangree And Speaking of Help . . . encourage our readers to come to you first. Actually it is rated at 500 gallons per minute. That is not an important difference, since recent innovations in structural fire fighting (which we are adapting) will more than compensate for that variation. As a volunteer fire department, we need two or three trained members to assure there will be one available to ' fishions respond to a fire at any given time. We meet at the fire station at 7:30 p.m., 2nd enise and 4th Tuesdays. Your active interest in helping us serve the community will be appreciated by all. —Floyd Stoughton, Fire Chief Custom — windows —— panels — lamps Those of us working on this newsletter appreciate your encouragement, help, and suggestions.
