Show CASTLE VALLEY NEWSLETTER SPRING-TIMES Castle Valley, Utah - Volume I, Number 2 Good News for Grand County Congratulations to Tom Rees for his recent appointment as chair of the Grand County Planning Commission. - March 15, 1992 Better Than Broadway The best of community theatre. What the pro’s try to achieve. Enjoyable. Entertaining. These were a few of the compliments heard after the premiere performance by Moab This is exceedingly good news for those of us living here in Grand County, and in particular for those of us who would like to continue living here. With three new appointments to this commission, that board will hopefully exert a more enlightened and beneficial influence upon our County Commissioners. News members are Norm Shrewsbury, Ion Hartley, and Jim Nelson. If the workings of the grand County Planning Commission seem to be of marginal concern to us in Castle Community Theatre of The Origin of Escargot by Castle Valley’s Rick Fullam. This light and delightful one act play had the audience laughing throughout. What better way for Rick to top his outstanding performance in The Foreigner two years ago, than to come back with his own successful play. He directed the performance as well. Our Randy Evans aided and Corridor, in Professor Valley, and along the paved road up to the LaSals is governed by zoning ordinances originating in the GC Planning Commission. Although large scale develop- ment is probable in these areas, it might occur in a less damaging manner if “the cheapest way” were not the automatic choice. Possibly the develpment might be done in a manner compatible with the beauty of the area we live in. Tom has worked hard the last five months trying to make the County Master Plan revision a more open and reasonable process (document?) With all the changes facing Grand County in the immediate future, it’s welcome news to have someone of Tom’s competence guiding the Grand County Planning Commission. BLM ls beginning oil and gas seismic assessment for Castle Valley. Sketchy info at this time, but looks like first shot-hole seismic line (explosives In drill holes) from White's Ranch to LaSals will pass on Castle Rock side of Loop Road. This Is the step preceding oil well drilling. We were alerted by SUWA; BLM did not notify us of proposed activity. Updates at front gate when available. —-Jack Campbell victims personally. Each of the four victims died while doing something they really loved doing. they had made choices in their lives that led to this moment. These choices were made from their dreams, adventuresome spirits, and love of life, rather than from fears and “should” that cloud so many people’s lives. When mortality confronts us, as it did through this accident, it is an opportunity to take stock of our own lives to see if we are living our dreams and with gusto. If we have unfinished business with people and / or with ourselves, now is the time to attend to it. This is not to imply we should stop planning for the future.
