The goat tying event was something new this year and saw four contestants trying to beat the clock and the goal. The girls rode into the arena, slid their horses to a stop, jumped off, grabbed the wiry goat and threw it to the ground and tied three legs into a bundle. It was interesting to watch and Connie Morse of Lehi completed the task in 14.8 seconds. The ribbon roping event the provided spectators with a few minutes of good entertainment, but is a little tough on the female part of the roping team. The rode out and cowboy and held a steer roped him while his partner ran out, tried to catch the tail of ihe steer and take off a ribbon. The girls had to run back to the starting line with the ribbon while the cowboy dismounled and took the rope of the steer. The combinalion of Larry and Marilyn Allen won this event. The girls' barrel racing saw many contestants entered. This event is fast and dangerous, with the horses making high speed turns around the barrels. Many contest a nis came oul of the arena with bruised shins from hitting the barrels. The 1979 Rodeo Queen Desiree Cooper won this event with a time of 19.19 seconds. Besides some of the royalty, the nal ion's toughest outlaw horses and brahma bulls, fastest calves and orneryest steers will entertain crowds at the rodeo this weekend. is The Lehi Round-Uknown far and wide as a 'show. Round-u- p Road Race Friday All physical fitness devotees will have a chance to show off their skills in jogging, running or racing on Friday afternoon. The Young Adults in Lehi Stake are sponsoring this exciting Road Race with registration set for 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday evening. Medals will go to winners in six divisions, with free tee shirts to all who participate. There will also be ribbons for special awards. Everyone is invited to join in this event. Runners will complete their three mile course at the conclusion of AND SEE FOR YOURSELF Round-U- p An added feature this will be the Zoppe Family, world famous year circus trick riders. First event of the three-da- y program is the stock parade through town beginning at 7 p.m. June Thursday, 28, culminating in the Arena at First North and Fifth West.
