Show You Better Believe It v- - it Every once and a while in the annals of our everyday lives there pops up a happening that lightens our burdens and lifts our hearts in pure joy. Such an event happened recently and involves an act of honesty that brings about a new faith in the young people of today. Let me tell you about it. On the Friday before Easter, a young mother and her mom went shopping to buy new Easter togs for their husbands. As they were pulling away from the curb in front of the Italian Place in American Fork, the younger mom thought she saw a wallet lying in the gutter. She pulled away, only to have second thoughts about the matter. She backed up, got out and picked up an old leather wallet. She thought she saw the corner of a $100 bill sticking out. She tossed the purse to her mother and said, "I think there's a lot of money in that." John Haws Attends N. Y. Seminar John Haws, Lehi City had the Councilman, distinct honor of serving on the staff of the Hugh O'Brien Freedom Foundation Seminar in New York City. The Seminar had delegates from 20 countries. They received two weeks of intensive teaching about freedom and it's importance. John was chosen of 189 applicants. Ann Hinton Among BYU by Betty Fowler In counting the contents of the wallet, they discovered eight one hundred dollar bills, $40 in smaller cash and two checks. They were flabbergasted. They checked the name of a license found among the papers and noted that the wallet probably belonged to a man maned Kenneth Borchart, of Grand Colorado. Junction, They checked with local police who reported that no lost wallet had been reported. The young mother kept checking back with the police. Finally after three days had gone by, she called the man in Grand Junction, and told him of finding the wallet. Mr. Borchart could not believe his ears. He had had so little faith he'd ever see the wallet again that he hadn't even bothered to call the police to report the loss. "You've restored my faith in mankind!" he said over the telephone, "keep $300 and send me the rest and I'll be eternally grateful to you." The young mother was delighted to have found the owner. She kept two dollars to pay for the phone call and buy r cashiers check for the total amount. "Golly, it's his, not mine," she said. Several days later she received a letter from Grand Junction with a check for $300.00. "I want you to have this," Mr. Borchart said. He went on to explain that before leaving for Colorado he'd met a friend in Salt Lake and told him of losing his wallet and that he knew he'd never get it back. The friend said, "If a good Mormon finds your wallet, you'll get it back." Mr. Borchart just laughed. "You proved my friend right, and restored a lot of faith in my fellow man. I can't repay you enough," the letter said. Who was this young mother? Well, she surely could have used the money. What young couple just starting out, building a home, and with two children couldn't! The young mother and her husband Kent live in Cedar Fort, they have two children, Tasha and Coby Kent. She's sumpn' might special to me. And if you haven't guessed her name by now, it's Necia F. Harris. Oh yes, what's she going to do with her $300? "I think we'll go on a honeymoon this summer. We never did have a and this honeymoon would be a good time, don't you think?" Golly, do I? THURS.. APRIL 27, THE LEHI FREE PRESS stamps."
