Show THE LEHI FREE PRESS Colledge Cited as of the Year ipr Crman Lehi's Mayor, Evan L. Colledge, was named one of eight winners of Governor Scott M. Matheson's Craftsmen Awards. He will be honored Tuesday at the Craftsman Awards Banquet at the Salt Lake Hilton. Mayor Colledge is a patternmaker at VS. Steel. Byrd Pearson, a skilled Provo artist was also announced as a winner. Mayor Colledge is married to the former Ruth Turner and they are the parents of four girls and two boys. Governor Matheson emphasized the importance of developing human resources of our state to meet adequately the challenges of tomorrow. Expansion of industry, construction, development of our vast energy and mineral resources within the state is dependent upon a skilled Utah labor force, he said. Mr. Colledge, who was nominated by officials of U.S. Steel, has had 27 employee suggestions accepted for and implementation MAYOR COLLEDGE will receive one of eight annual Craftsmen Awards at a banquet Tuesday at the Salt Lake Hilton. The Mayor is a patternmaker at U.S. Steel and a master carpenter. has received compensations for each of these suggestions. He holds patent rights for his invention of a lathe-centeri- tool. Mr. Colledge has designed, cast, and assembled several pieces of pattern wood working equipment, and consistently looks for ways to improve and Jewelry member upgrade the molding process. He also teaches his skill to other patternmakers. Mr. Colledge has a long history of community service, having served as the first cubmaster in Lehi, and having held numerous positions in the scouting program, softball and basketball leagues and LDS Church. He is a member of the Lehi Metropolitan Water District, member of UVTDA, board -V -- ; of the Utah County Solid Waste Service District, committee member and vice chairman of Timpanogos Special Service District. Mr. Colledge served as chairman of the executive committee of the Utah County Council of Governments, and received that organization's distinguished service award. He has also been active in committees of Mountainland Association of Governments. s - Burglary Jewlery reportedly valued at was stolen from a Lehi residence on April 13, Lehi Police Chief Berl Peterson said this week. While he said he could not' release the name of the victim, Chief Peterson said that two boxes of jewelry were taken from the bedroom of a Lehi home which had been left unlocked. Both a man's and a woman's jewelry , box were involved in the burglaries. Rings, birthstones, watches and necklaces were taken with the boxes he reported. The owners reported the incident to police Wednesday evening, and police suspected that it occur ed in the afternoon or early evening. A lawnmower was reported missing from under the carport of the neighboring house the following night.
