Show You Better Believe It by Betty Fowler i Whewwww, it's over. I mean one of the neatest experiences of my life, being in the Miss Lehi Pageant! No, I didn't compete, (shucks), but helped by announcing part of the program. After meeting the girls and becoming acquainted with them, I have my own list of titles for them. For in my own eye, each of them is a queen How hard it would be for a judge, just in one day's time to select just three from a field of 16 beautiful girls! Jr. High Students Gear For Reading Marathon You can feel the excitement the air at the junior high school these days, as students prepare for a first annual reading marathon. Sponsored by the school media center, the activity will begin at 2 p.m. on April 29 and end at 7 a.m. April 30. Students are reading as many hours as possible for the purpose of acquiring chilled water fountains for the halls. According to Frances Comer, media coordinator at the school, there will be judges to decide whether the students are really reading. Those students who are eliminated from the contest will be asked to leave and their parents called to pick them up at the school. After 10:30 p.m. all students still remaining will stay until the next morning. There will be a midnight sock hop (with a disc jockey from radio station KRSP), a movie at 2:30 a.m., a light breakfast at 5 a.m. nd an awards assembly at 6 a.m. Students should be out of the building and home at 7 a.m. Students will be bringing their sack lunch for the evening meal, but the P.T.A. under the direction of Lana Harris, president, and Cleneyl will Gerber, president-elect- , sell cold drinks, and snacks during the night hours, and prepare breakfast. Parents and townspeople are invited to come to the school and join with their students in reading for as long as they wish. Special invitations have been sent to town officials and in call them Betty's Hit and Miss list in the order they're listed on the pageant program. Three Lehi Coeds Graduate at Ricks Commencement Elder Marion G. Romney, a of the First member Presidency of the LDS Church, will speak at the Baccalaureate Service at Ricks College April 26 at 2 p.m. in the Hart Gymnasium. President Henry B. Eyring has listed commencement activities beginning April 25 with the Sport, Scholars Banquet and ending April 27 at 10 a.m. with the commencement exercises in the Hart Building. The banquet for candidates for graduation, alumni and" friends will be held April 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hart This will be Fieldhouse. followed by the President's Reception in the Manwaring Center and the Graduation Ball.
