Our family has spent about 45 hours time in creating an outdoor Christmas tree from tin cans. On Sunday evening, December 15, one day after the project was completed, over a dozen lights were taken from the display. A $10 reward will be given for the identity of any person, or persons, known to have taken lights or damaged Christmas decorations on my property. Footprints in the snow indicate a variety of sizes of youth were involved. LARUE B. PRIOR Sincerely, Carl Mellor LaRue Prior m Dies, Funeral Today at at MARY HUDUSSA SPADA Jr. and Hannah 1.. A TRUE STORY r n This letter is entitled "Pioneers in the back seat." This letter is written in the hope that it might improve the athletic situation at the Lehi High School. A situation which I think has deteriorated to an alarming point. First of all I want to make two points clear. No. 1. I do not have anything against anyone personally. No. 2 think any coach is entitled to two years in order to 1 prove his worth. Now, I am going to lay my comments right on the line and at the conclusion of this letter you will find my signature attached to it. Now I am not prepared to say where the fault lies but, if the selecting of the coaches is under the supervision of the principal then I think there is need of improvement. A definite improvement in that athletic department at the Lehi High School has long since been overdue. This is in all sports. Anytime the owners of any major league football, basketball or baseball team sees a definite need of improvement, they make a change immediately. And, sometimes right in midstream. Even at the sacrifice of the price of paying the remainder of the coach or manager's salary for the remainder of the year and, sometimes the next year too, if their contract runs that far. They make that change not because of any ill feeling toward the coach or manager but, for the sole purpose of improving the image of the town, the attendance and the spirituality of the town and the team as a whole. By the same token I have reason to believe that a clean sweep in that athletic department should be given consideration. And again may I reiterate, I do not have any grudge or ill feelings toward any individual. O O sBCTY EAYTCN release MARTIN Y and PiO.Jucei' Ai N '.N ANN COLLINGS H'.iV ? H..l !,! I have every reason to believe that very thing exists right at this present time. And that in itself "is poor taste on the part of any coach." You just about as well plow every fifth one under. Our boys are simply not that bad. We usually have the horses, lets get the drivers. Other towns do, large or small. About 1933 Lehi went to the finals in the state basketball tournament only to lose to Granite by 2 points. A few years later Lehi again went to the finals in the state tournament only to lose to the Davis Darts. How come all that success with a small school. The answer is simple. Ross Neilson lived in the town he coached in. And any kid that had any athletic ability at all, he was was working with them from the sixth grade on up and teaching the fundamentals of the game. Now, you seldom ever see any Lehi High School coach at any of the bantam league games in football or basketball.
