Scoring went as follows: Evaristo Soares and Gary Jolley led with 15 apiece. Brian Smith 10, John Harr 9, lead, .58 to 46. Assisted Coach Ken Pierce, the Pi oii' i rs are looking forward to season. Schedule of a sm m.ilthes is as follows: Thursday. Dec. 12, Lehi at Spriiigville. Dec. 17, Tooele at vvar. c The Pioneers found rough going last Friday at Tooele as the Buffs rode a run and gun fast break to an eight point victory. Tooele committed alot of early fouls as they started out with a very physical brand of basketball. The Pioneers started well as the zone defense they employed worked well and gave them a good share of rebounds. The score was tied at 10, 12 and 16 as the teams were even the first eight minutes. The first quarter score was tied at 16 ior Gary Jolley one of the top in the area, should give the team leadership and good scoring punch from the guard line. His running mate senior Robert Davis has improved greatly and should give good balance on the guard line. Chip Atkinson, a junior at forward, is an explosive player and gives the Pioneers good muscle and is a good shooter. The center spot is filled by junior John Harr, who jumps well and is developing into an excellent ball player. John is an excellent foul shooter. Brian Smith, senior forward, center, possibly is one of the best shooters on the team and has played well and will be counted on heavily. Senior Kevin Russon center forward, tough around the basket, is a good rebounder. Glen another senior, proved his worth as he put in the winning foul shots in the Judge game. Three junior guards who start on the junior varsity for Coach Andrus and are the back ups at that position are John Welch, Ryan Davis and Vic Colledge. Also a junior varsity starter and a forward is sophomore Todd Nelson. This is a good group of young men with talent that will represent the Pioneers this season.
