Everyone is invited to bring the family and come join the Cub Scouts and their parents a very special program has been prepared by the boys. Cub Scouts are boys eight, nine, and ten years old who are engaged in the Scouting program. Winners of the American Heritage Essay Contest will read their winning essays and other boys will participate in a Chorus. Phyllis Gray is the Stake Cub Scout Director and is in charge of the event. The firm manufactures draperies and has been open for the past two weeks. Owner-managof the new firm is Randall Crooks, who is very enthusiastic about the business and Lehi. "We need two more employees at the present," he stated, noting that To i r with planned expansion, several more will be hired as needed. Mr. Crooks said that at present he is leasing the builsing, but has an option to purchase it. "I think we will become a permanent part of the business community," he said, stating that he liked it in this area. f" ''.:X. Present Spring Concert JOE BARNES Fashion Show Slated at High School Continental Drapery Opens New Business on Main Street Music Dept. v The Lehi High School Music Department, under the baton of Dennis A. Husted, will present their annual Spring Concert on Thursday, May 3. Curtain time will be 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium and featured will be the Concert Band, Concert Choir and Girls Choir. All parents and the public are invited to join students for this concert. There will be no charge. Mr. Crooks is a native of northern California and graduated from the Nampa, Idaho high school. He has attended Brig-haYoung University served an LDS Mission in the Cummo-ra- h Mission and was a member of the Utah National Guard. Prior to opening this present m business he installed draperies. He is married to the former Sandra Limb, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Limb of Lehi, and they are the parents of two sons, Mark, 2'2 and Brandon, six months. They make their home in American Fork. Mr. Crooks parents are Mr. and Mrs. Duane Crooks of Provo. His mother, who is an interior decorator, assists him in his work, as does his father, who bids on the commercial jobs. LDS SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP PLANS DANCES Z CROOKS new business. RANDALL ) - V opens The LDS Special Interests announce that beginning May 5, dances will be held at the new Rock Canyon Chapel, 2445 North 650 East, Provo, Utah at 9 p.m. Other activities of note will be firesides set for May 13 and May 27 in the American Fork Taber- nacle at 8 p.m. The Big and Little Sister organization at the Lehi High School will sponsor a fashion show tomorrow evening, Friday, April 27, it was reported by Miss Ardena Beck, advisor. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the audirorium at the school. Theme will be "Summer Play It Your Way." - Fashions will be furnished by Clark's of Provo and models will be from the International Model Agency. Clothes will include pants, swim suits, shorts, long summer dresses, older lady fashions, etc. All girls, their mothers and grandmothers are invited to attend. Admission will be 25 cents and tickets will be available at the door. Refreshments will be served following the fashion show. Arrangements are under the direction of the organization officers: Joy Hansen, president; Connie Wintes, vice president; Danna Lynn Smith, secretary; Marlece Berry, historian; Lisa Poulsen, program chairman; and Susan Evans, Madge Black, Keri Beck and Lori Peterson, class representatives. 13 Youths Named to Boys State The boys who will represent the community at the annual Boys State have been selected, it was reported by Dennis Finch, commander of the Lehi Post of the American Legion, sponsors of the event. Named as delegates are Joseph Barnes, Corey Christensen, John Fowler, Lloyd Hampton, Robert Higginson, Keith Jenkins, David Peet, Reed Powell, Guy Soren-soBrent Webb, Calvin Evans, Kim Beck and Kevin Austill. These boys are all juniors at the GUY SORENSON Lehi High School. Boys State will be held June 10th to 16th at the Utah State University in Logan. Mr. Finch, who will serve as a counselor M V during the meet, said that in addition to the American Legion, LLOYD HAMPTON include The Swingers Dance Club, Lehi Lions Club, State Bank of Lehi, Lehi City, Lehi Civic Improvement Assocation, Lehi Chamber of Commerce and Sue Ellen Baum's Dance Group. Committee members include Dean Lucene Chamberlain and Dennis Finch. e, Joe Barnes Joe. Barnes, 16, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Barnes. He will be a senior at the Lehi High School next fall. He has participated in the high school production of "Music Man", played, tennis for two years and enjoys model trains and woodwork. Guy Sorenson Guy Sorenson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nile Sorenson. He is a member of the Pioneers Baseball team and the local chapter of the National Honor Society. He enjoys football, baseball, basketball, golf and bowling. He also likes to hunt and camp out. Reading and music are his favorite pastimes. COREY CHRISTENSEN The lovely contestants will be selling tickets to the Miss Lehi Pageant and will personally contact Lehi citizens to inform them of the coming Queen's event set to take place May 12 in The talented and beautiful Lehi contestants will be treated to a special day of activities on April 30. A trip to Salt Lake City has been planned by the Pageant Committee and includes a tour of the State Capitol where they will have the privilege of meeting Governor Rampton. They will also be conducted on a tour of the famed Beehive House and will enjoy a luncheon and fashion show at the Hotel Utah. They will visit the LDS Church Offices and have the opportunity to meet President H. Eldon Tanner, noted LDS Church Authority. The Queen's Tour will begin by meeting at the home of chairwoman, Charlyn Evans, Monday, April 30. Miss Lloyd Hampton Lloyd Hampton is the son of Mr. R. Monte and Mrs. Hampton. He was an officer in his Deacon's Quorum and vice president of his Venture Group. He holds the office of a Priest in the LDS Church. He is active in debate and earned a "Superior" rating in the recent Regional. Meet and went to the State meet in extemporaneous speaking. He is a member of the Model United Nations. Corey Christensen Corey Christensen is the son of Mrs. Helen T. and the late Wane E. Christensen. Active in school affairs, he is a member of the Concert Band, where he is serving as the group's president; and is a member of the Thesian Society and is serving as the local chapter's vice president. He has participated in the school dramatic productions, including "Romeo and Juliet" and "Camelot". He is a member of the local chapter of the National Honor Society, a member of the school pep band and is a former participant in forensic activities. He has served as secretary, counselor and president of his various Aaronic Priesthood Quorums, has been a seminary class officer, is a member of his Ward Bishop's Youth Advisory Committee and has earned five Individual Awards. He is a member of the City Youth Advisory Committee. Brent Webb Brent Webb is the son of Mrs. Norma and the late Lynn Webb. He holds the office of Priest and is an Eagle Scout. He is a member of the National Honor Society at the Lehi High School. Robert Higgison Robert Higgison is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Dean Higgison. He is a member of the National Forensic League and is serving of the local as president-elec- t chapter. He is the Debate Manager and enjoys public speaking. He is active in the LDS Church, and has served as an officer in his Deacon's, Teacher's and Priest's Quorums. He has also served as a seminary class president. One of his hobbies is electronics and he has just completed a stero amplifer system. He is also interested in outer space. He plans to serve a mission for the LDS Church and study to be a lawyer. Kevin K. Austill Kevin Austill is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Austill. He is active in school activities and has played football and served as manager of the basketball team. He is a member of the Longhorn Rodeo Club. He is active in the LDS Church and is a Priest in the 10th Ward. He has played basketball. His hobbies include cars, motor-cycle- s or bikes. He works part-tim- e at Reams. n David H. Peet David H. Peet is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don L. Peet. He has been active in scouting, receiving his Eagle Award in January, 1971. He served as an officer of his Deacon's and Teacher's Quorums and has earned four Aaronic Priesthood Certificates of Achievement. He enjoys athletics and has played Little League baseball and football and also participated in the Bantam Basketball and Explorer basketball programs. He is a member of the National Honor Society and enjoys hunting, fishing, swimming, skiing and motorcycle riding. Kim K. Beck Beck is the son of Mr. Kent E. Beck. He is the LDS Church and office of Priest. He1 served as an officer in his Deacon's Quorum. He enjoys sports and has played Little League and Sophomore football. Powell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith S. Powell. He has participated in the stage and concert band and for year is a member of the National Forensic League. He has represented the school at the State Forensic Meet in Legislative Forum for the past two years. He has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past three years. He is active in the LDS Church and holds the office of Priest. He is also an Eage Scout. He fienjoys horseback riding, shing, hunting, camping and hiking. A 373-551- Beautiful blonde Mary Christofferson will enter the Miss Lehi Pageant under the auspices of the Athenian Club. She is a queenly five feet ten inches with striking green eyes. A vocal solo will be Mary's talent presentation in the contest. She has a wide variety of interests including art, interior dancing, design, geneology, speech and drama and creative cookery. Her favority hobbies are sewing and designing, drying flowers and other handicraft. She is attending Brigham Young University and will follow a major in Early Childhood Education. She has had special training in piano and voice, ballet and specialty dances and English Pleasure Riding. Mary has been an eager participant in many high school and college activities taking part in plays, roadshows, speech and music festivals, summer theater and volunteer efforts in the fin I WKvi 1 i; ROBERT HIGGINSON 1 . . 1 wmmmmmm KEVIN AUSTILL A lovely Miss Lehi aspirant from Cedar Valley is Larene Ault, daughter of Elwin C. and Hazel G. Ault. Larena is a slender five feet seven and a half inches tall, with brown eyes and blonde hair. It strawberry seems that all Cedar Valley contestants are gifted dancers and Larene will follow suit with a modern dance number for her talent presentation. She is sponsored by the Auctus Club. Her special interests are sports of all kinds, and "I like to travel and I especially like hiking." She will be a 1973 Lehi High School graduate and would like to follow a career as a secretary. She has had lessons in dance and gymnastics. She has been very active in high school and has been a member of the Pep Club, a Thespian and National Honor Soceity. She has been a Varsity Attractive Sherri Pope has announced her intention to seek the Miss Lehi crown and will be on hand to compete with eight other hopefuls on May 12. Sherri is a curvaceous five feet five and one half inches tall, with beautiful blue eyes and light brown hair. She is the daughter of Bishop and Mrs. Arnold C. Pope. She will be sponsored by the American Legion. Sherri is an avid art fan and loves to spend her spare hours with her oil painting and charcoal drawing. She also likes to sew, crochet and embroidery. Other special interests are singing, sports and playing the piano. She is attending Dixie College and will follow a career in Interior Decorating. Many hours of musical instruction has filled Sherri's time as she has had special instruction in dance, piano, voice, violin and clarinet. While attending Lehi High School she was a member of the Pep Club, biology club, Thespians and the National Honor Society. REED POWELL 1 SHERRI POPE PTAFunDay At Saratoga Sat., May 5 Tickets are being sold for the annual Valley PTA Fun Day at Saratoga. The event event for is the big PTA scholarships to be given deserving Lehi High School graduates. g The date for this fun and event is from 11 a m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 5. Members of the PTA Council and volunteers will be selling tickets and it is hoped everyone in Lehi will respond when the house to house canvas takes place. The tickets are $1.25 and will be redeemed at the Saratoga Ride Stand for a hand stamp, which will entitle the ticket holder to ride as many times as he wishes on any of Saratoga's fun rides. With your PTA hand stamp, swimming will be available for one half price. Parking will be free. The meeting has been scheduled for May 3, 1973, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lehi City Veterans Memorial Hall. The area to be discussed will be designated as the North Lehi Planning Advisory District and will include all land generally north of county east of road 9600 North; west of Mitchell hollow and Dry Creek and west of Alpine City; and all land lying approximately one mile All residents and north of land owners in this area are invited to attend. John Fowler John Fowler is the 17 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Fowler. He is active at Lehi High School where he was a member of the J. V. and Varsity Football team and is presently playing left field for the Varsity Baseball team. He has been president of his Seminary class and was Studentbody Presidents of the Junior High School. He is an active member of the Lehi Second Ward and serves as a Home Teacher. John is employed on a part time basis at Ream's Market. He also helps his father in the trucking business.
