Going on to Flensburg, Germany, they then rode into Podborg, Denmark. They returned to Celle, Germany, where they enjoyed the beautiful castle and museum. Extensive tours were made in each city and the travelers were greatly impressed with the beauty of the natural scenery and also the many historic castles and other features, carefully preserved and maintained. In many areas, they could observe the effects, not completely renovated, of bombdestruction resulting from the wars. ing HEIDELBURG Heidelburg was observed as one of the few historic cities which had been spared in the bombing. The beautiful castle and other widely noted features were enjoyed. The boat trip down the River Rhine was taken from Koln, Germany, to Kolenz, including Rudsheim and on to Heidelburg. Noted as one of the most beautiful river tours in the world, it included many castles and fortresses. The hills were literally covered with grapes, was observed. BLACK FOREST Traveling to Freilburg, they took the train to the Black Forest, a most beautiful area, noted for the production of cuckoo clocks. They obtained these souvenirs there, as well as numerous photographs and other souvenirs of their tour. SWITZERLAND Going into Zurich, Switzerland, they also went to Bern and visited the LDS Temple there. ITALY Traveling to Milano, Italy, they then went up through the Bavarian Alps to Munich, Germany, where they embarked for the plane homeward.
