(De Ann) Palmer of Lehi, wife of a Lehi builder and educator,' has accepted the position of President of North Utah County Republican Women's Clubs, a division of the Utah Federation of Republican Women's Clubs. Following the election, inaug uration proceedings took place at the Village Inn at Provo. Utah president, Mrs. David L. (Mildred) McKay of Salt Lake City, presented the official brooch. The oath of office was administered by the State Secretary, Mrs. L.A. (Florence) Manwaring of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Keith (Louise) Adam-so- n of American Fork, is the new Allen D. Musgrove, President of OIL Freight, Inc., and Utah State -- t Chairman for national Transportation announced the rsa Week, has; participation of an ! outstanding student from each.' high school in a transportation seminar to be held in Salt Lake. The student who will represent Lehi High School is Weston Innes. Each student was chosen for his capabilities, personally, scholastic ability, leader- -, ship qualities, etc. On May 20 at 9:00 a.m. the students will meet at the Salt Lake International Airport. After a grand tour of the airline industry, they will each receive a box lunch and then board buses which will conduct them on atour of all the major transportation companies in the Salt Lake area. This is being done to give the students an insight into the actual operation of each specific company." The tour will culminate at 4:00 p.m., after which the students will return to their respective lodgings. Later that evening the students have reservations for the showing to be given at the Hansen Planetarium. Friday, May 21, the students will once again meet, only this time in the House of Representatives Chamber in the State There will be a desigCapitol. nated representative's desk for each student. The students will be addressed by Governor Calvin L. Rampton and Key figures in tfce-transportation industry. She began her career in 1925, in Pahvant Valley, near her home in Fillmore, Millard Coun- She had the experience of teach ing all grades, with the exper ience also of teaching children of foreign birth and the native Indians. In some cases these must learn the language as well as the assigned subjects. She came to Lehi in 1943, as the wife of J. Maiben Steph ensen, v. ell known educator who taug'jt at the Lehi High School and :ilso served as school super intendsnt in other areas of the State. He passed away in 1954. Actually a native of Salt Lake Letirian Club Elects Officers Members of the Letitian Club met for the final business meeting of the season, at the home of Mrs. Ray (Bonnie) Southwick, with Mrs. Lynn (Arlene) Peck, club president, taking charge. Mrs. Boise (Carol) Evans, current will assume the post of club president next Fall, with Mrs. Grant (Donna) Gordon as Mrs. president. One of her most enjoyed activities is that of Merit Badge Counselor in the Boy Scout program: Many, many boys have her home or passed through schoolroom to receive their tests in public speaking and reading. She has enjoyed hearing the confidential reports of students who reveal, "You taught my Daddy," or "You were my Mommas teacher, too." ' In private life, Ruth is the wife of Lester D. Peterson, long time church worker and employee for many years with the Intermoun-tai- n Farmers Association. They were married in 1962. A former member of the Lehi First Ward Bishopric, he has also served on the Stake High Council and has filled many positions as a public speaker. Each have raised four children, and their combined grandchildren now mumber 43. Mrs. Peterson has two sisters in the teaching profession and her daughter Kathryn and MorrisGoates.of the Salt Lake Valley area, have also followed the educational trend. Her son Charles Stephensen is now in business in Salt Lake City; Malcolm is in business in Walnut Creek, California. Both sons are military veterans. Keith Peterson follows a vocation in business in Rexburg, Idaho. Kenneth Peterson is serving in a supervisory position in the LDS Seminary program in West Lafayette, Indiana. Glade Peterson is employed in the medical field, living in Sandy, Utah. Shirley (Peterson) is well known in local affairs as the wife of Bishop bedrgei'F.
