Hal Robbins Receives Medal Stake Relief Society to Sponsor Poetry, Short Story Writing Contest; Adopt Rules Deadline for entries to the Lehi Stake Relief Society short story and poetry writing contest has been set at July 15. Rules for the annual contest, which is open to all LDS women, are as follows: Only one story or poem may be submitted by each contestant. The story must not exceed 3,000 words in length and poems must not exceed 50 lines. Both should be typewritten if possible. Where this cannot be done, entries should be legibly written on one side of the paper. Also, the number of words for the story must appear on the first page of the manuscript, with allwords being counted, including one and two - letter words. To insure against loss, a duplicate copy of the story or poem should be retained by the contestant. The sheet on which the poem is written is to be without signature or other identifying marks. The contestant's name is not to appear anywhere on the manuscript, but a stamped envelope on which is written the contestant's name and address is to be enclosed with the story or poer. Pennames are not to be used. No explanatory materialor picture is to accompany the poem or story. In addition, a signed statement is to accompany each entry certifying that the author is a member of the LDS Church; that the entry is the contestant's own work and that it has never been published, and that it is not in the hands of an editor nor being submitted elsewhere for publication until the contest is decided.
