Councilman Kent Beck outlined beautification program plans for the coming year to the council, pointing out a need for several new committee members to round out his roster. These individuals will be contacted and invited by the council to serve on the committee. Lights, paneling and a new ceiling are now in place and the council complimented the two groups for their efforts. In other matters, Dr. Davis stated that he is preparing a letter to submit to the State Department of Highways requesting assistance in the replacement of the street lights in the center area of Main Street. The present 32 incandescent lights will be replaced with mercury vapor type lights, if the state will assist in the project. Mr. Sunderland also proposed that the city begin work on a master plan for the drainage and sidewalks in the city in order that curbs and gutters may be installed by individuals as they desire. SPECIAL City, Individuals Receive Awards For Beautification Efforts in 7969 Mayor Morris Clark accepted a Special Award of Merit in behalf of the city from Robert L. Hassell at the Council Meeting Monday evening. The award was presented by the Utah State University Landscape Improvement Program for the city's outstanding achievement in their beautification work during 1969. Also receiving awards were Bertrand Beck, Chairman of the Lehi Beautification Committee, for his efforts in the beautification program; Alma Peterson, a special award for the beautifying of his home and grounds; a plaq je and bar for the Lehi Stake Center and an award for the beauty of Dalley Jewelry And Gifts Sets Grand Opening C.
