Lehi Lions Club to Conduct Annual Picrpont Ave. Salt Lake City, Ut. 614.101 lip- - Broom Sale Throughout City Starts Oct. 9 The Lehi Lions Club will conduct the annual broom sale, beginning Monday, Oct.9. according to Paul Hanson, project chairman. Lehi homes will be contacted and families are reminded to take inventory of their needs and support the sale. Brooms, made by the blind or those with sight impairment; whisk brooms and also the very useful clothes brushes with metal bristle" will be available. The Lions will also have a supply of door mats, well known for their convenience and useability. These door mats are made of tough rubber tire strips reinforced with metal, long lasting. They are available in size 17 inches by 26 inches, at $3 each. The brooms, six tie, in the best quality, are $2 each. Whisk brooms and clothes brushes are $1 each. These choice brooms and other household supplies are prepared at the Murray B. Allen Blind Center in Salt Lake City. Their manufacture provides an occupa 14 tion for those with sight loss or impairment and helps them to maintain their homes and fami- . A d purpose is accomplished by the Lions Club. Not only are they assisting those who depend on the proceeds of the manufacturing occupation, but the proceeds gained by the club are assigned to their sight conservation program. They have provided numerous eye examinations and eye care for those needing this aid, and have also provided glasses in many cases. District chairmen are being assigned and the entire club membership will assist in the house to house canvass. However, if anyone is missed or desires a broom or other article available, they may call Chairman Hanson at his home, 2, Lehi. Assisting phone Mr. Hanson on the general committee are Dr. Kent B. Mrs. Glade (Laurell) Dalton, membership chairman, said that home with the school children next Monday. She stated that if any parent has already joined this unit, they may write on the back on the envelope that the membership was paid at the Back to SchooHHght so that the child ren may be credited with the membership. A contest between the various classes will be conducted, with a prize given by the PTA to the class getting the highest percen tage of memberships. However parents are urged not to join the PTA for the contest alone, but for the enjoyment and benefits that membership In the PTA can bring. Perfect Safety Record at Timpanogos Cave John F. Aiton, Special Safety Assistant to the Director of the National Park Service, has presented the employees of Timpanogos Cave National Monument with an award for a perfect safety record for the year 1966. In presenting the award, Mr. Aiton read the citation: "The Director's Safety Certificate is presented to the employees of Timpanogos Cave National Monument for excellent safety performance in which no disabling injuries, no motor vehicle accidents, and no structural fires were sustained during the contest year." In 1966 the six regions and 221 units of the National Park System competed for the lowest and most improved record of accident and fire loss. Timpanogos Cave National Monument was among 27 areas in the Southwest Region with a perfect record Lehi F.F.A. Team to Represent Utah At National Judging Contest at Missouri The FFA (Future Farmers of America) Livestock Judging Team from the Lehi High School will represent Utah at the National Judging Contest at Kansas City, Missouri. The team won this honor by winning first place at the state judging contests held at Utah State University. Team members are Randy Evans, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Evans, David Evans, son of Mr. and Mrs. Boise Evans, and David Talyumptewa, foster son of the Boise Evans'. These boys have been members of the chapter judging team for two years. Daylight Savings Time Ends Oct. 29 Utah and the nation "get their hour back" when they go off daylight savings time October 29, at 2 a.m. Utah went on daylight savings time last April after the Utah State Legislature chose to go along with national legislation rather than pass a bill at its 1967 session to exclude the state.
