Nielson of Blanding when she was ; informed by telephone that she i was Utah's mother of the Year i for 1967. Mrs. Nielson is the wife of; Joseph L. Nielson, a Blanding! cattleman, and the mother of! four sons and three daughters. ! She has been a teacher of high j school English for 15 years in! j the San Juan High School. She is also a writer and has the Deseret News j received Christmas Story Award twice. Mrs. Nielson grew up in a i home in Lehi where hard work and j effort were the pattern of life where everyone went to school and served over church and com- ; munity. She is the daughter of the late , Bishop and Mrs. James ner of Lehi. Mrs. Nielson will go to New York the first of May to repre-- 1 sent Utah in the American j Mother of the Year selection. The Intended bride, former "Miss Lehi," is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Athenian Club Tours Museum, Elects Officers Members of the Athenian Club enjoyed a tour of the Hutchlngs Museum, last Wednesday. John Hutchlngs, Lehi naturalist and museum curator, conducted the tour and gave interesting explanations of the various exhibits, Including their background and origin. Luncheon was served at the museum, with Mrs. Vernon K. Nielsen as hostess. Mrs. Harry Manning, current vice president, will succeed Mrs. Weston Ivers as president. Mrs. Basil Dorton was elected vice president, with Mrs. Dean Udell to serve as secretary. Mrs. Hrold W. Barnes was elected treasurer and Mrs. W. D. Watkins was retained as historian. The elctlon of officers took place after the tour.
