Never again probably will this electorate cast a more significant or decisive vote. Voters Tuesday will exercise their franchise in behalf of a speedy start on the Bonneville Unit of the Central Utah Project. If the vote "Yes" as the Go vernor, the Water and Power Board and all state and county civic leaders urge, the Bonneville Unit will be underway. Congress already has appro priated $3.5 million to start work. The remainder of the $324 million Bonneville Unit will proceed, it is to be hoped, on schedule and the state will be embarked on a massive year construction job, the greatest resource development program in its his tory. It is inconceivable to us that anyone in possession of the facts and with an eye to the future of the area could vote "No." Not if he had his future or the future of his children in mind. The only danger lies in the uninformed voter, the confused voter, the obstructive voter. The informed voter knows that his vote next Tuesday carries unusual weight, in demonstrating to the other Colorado River States and to the Federal Government that Utah intends to proceed with the full development of its fair share of Colorado River with all possible speed. The danger of our water rights going downstream to powerful Lower Basin areas is real. All they need do to win our water is block our partici pating projects -- particularly the Central Utah Project. The confused voter might not be aware of the urgency of the situation, or understand the need that he or she vote without fall Without the usual election con troversy, debate or fireworks, this voter may be lulled into thinking that the issue is pro- protionately minute. Actually, the issue is crystal clear. A" Yes vote stamps voter approval on the project plan and approves the contract drawn up with the fed eral government, providing for repayment of the water used. It for a signifies voter massive project that brings far 15-- 21 ad iriMis,' tliftfefJs reaching benefits. Your future, and the future of your children and of generations to come here in Utah call for a unanimous and full positive vote for the Central Utah Project Thursday.
