And a little observation of friends and acauaintances ill prove that most of them act courteously in the greater pan 01 their dealings with their fellow men. "Rut there's one whole phase of courtesy that's sadly neglected that phase is Motor Manners. When an individual opens the door of his car and slips behind the wheel, he too often changes from an apparently courteous, citizen into an boor (i. e. a motorist drunk with the power at his command). What causes There's no adequate answer to this question. But it seems to spring from a strange quirk in some people's thinking a quirk that sets driving apart from other phases of living, making it something to which the ethics governing ordinary living do not apply. T What Industry Can Mean to J A Community A factory employing 150 people would generate enough business in the average Utah community to support between 1,000 and 1,200 persons, according to a study released today by the Pacific Central office of the National Association of Manufacturers. Residents earning their living as a result of the factory would need 300 homes, and about 320 automobiles, the NAM report says. Families gaining a livelihood because of the factory would have enough children for an school. At the same time, the study continues, the people would sun-po-rt 33 stores and would allow 23 professional people to live snd serve in the community. On the matter of taxation, the NAM states that certain federal tax reforms should be accomplished to allow firms to accumulate sufficient capital to provide for this needed plant construction and community expansion. In addition, points out the NAM, the people supported by the factory would buy the produce of some 6,000 acres thus involving the farmers in the area around the town. The study was released by the NAM to demonstrate that it believes many Utah towns have it within their power to make their local economy strong and stable. "Many firms concerned with decentralization and the benefits of being a 'home-tow- n company are locating in smaller communities," reports the NAM. "Such companies provide likely prospects for alert communities which are eager for sound development and healthy growth."
