F. Canyon Honored Mayor Frank Sharp and all members of the Iehi City Council except one, met Tuesday night with Mayors and irrigation officials At Open House from American Fork, Pleasant Grove and Lehi in a concerted effort to halt the Salt Lake and the Metropolitan Water Board's proposal to dig four wells at the mouth of American Fork canyon. Mayor Sharp said, after the meeting that the three communities were joining in a solid front to prevent the Salt Lake grab of water rightfully serving this area. Mayor Sharp said that other mayors from north Utah County are throwing their support behind a protest by Salt Lake water ty useres against the drilling of a well near Draper, and urged organized groups and individuals to attend the August 13 hearing. The hearing will open before the state engineer in Salt Lake City at 10 a. m. He pointed out that Salt Lake water users are interested in any attempt to intercept water before it reaches Utah Lake, since they have water rights on Utah Lake. A' hearing on protest of Utah County to digging of four wells near the mouth of American Fork canyon will likely be held before the state engineer in September, Mr. Sharp said. A Utah County delegation of some 200 cars will join the Salt Lake water users August 13 and members of the Utah caravan will convene at Lehi at 8:45 a. m.
