The Fourth Ward put their heavy siege batters to work on the curves of Les Colledge and Jay Manning to tip the 4. league This leaders by a score of 8 to threw the second half race Into a four-wa- y tie with Third. Second, Fourth and Sixth Wards sharing honors. First Ward players lagged one game behind, due to their losing their contest with Second Ward's team. Bateman pitched consistent ball for the winning Fourth, and although Third had him in trouble several innings, fielding gems by Peck and Cardon saved the day. Third's usually reliable fielding was off, they being charged with several costly errors. Second beat First, 8 to 7, but not without a seventh inning uprising that came close to upsetting the favored Second. Felt and Roberts put on a ding dong battle and only costly errors by both teams made the large score. Second scored three times in the seventh and First two. They had the bases loaded when Gary Holmstead popped out to Whipple. In the other games last week, Fifth beat Cedar Valley, 6 to 0, due to using ineligible men. The actual score of the exhibition game was 9 to 3 for Cedar Valley. Sixth thumped Seventh, 16 to 7. but Ralph Johnson, Sr., showed the younger boys how fly balls should be caught and made a beautiful throw from the outfield to tag a runner from third on a fly ball Manager Wathen used several combinations to try for new talent at various positions. The schedule for Friday night pits two leaders, Fourth and Second, at 7:00 p. m. The winner will be tied with Third, prowon viding they Wednesday. Seventh plays Fifth at 8:30 p. m.
