Show LEIII FKEE PRESS, LOII, UTAH THURSDAY, MAY 6. 1954 . Studentbody X Officers -- ment of hunger is a hopeful note in this troubled time. It binds together in common cause men of different race, creed and political Museum Project Should Have Support of Everyone A priceless Pioneer and Natural History collection second to none in the Intermountain States will soon be turned over to this community. If present plans materialize. It is the remarkable John Hutchings museum. Spearheaded by the Lions Club, articles of incorporation are now being drawn up whereby Mr. Hutchings will turn over his entire museum to a This, is an corporation. act of unselfishness unparalleled in Lehl history. The exact value of the Hutchings museum cannot be estimated, but one thing is certain Mr. Hutchings would not want for buyers or receivers if he desired to dispose of his collection. He has many inquiries from individuals, universities and other institutions interested in getting all or part of his collection. It's not a matter of money, as Mr. Hutchings himself explains If it were money he wanted, he could have sold the collection long ago. His problem over the years has not been disposing of his collection, but keeping it. The museum reprsents a lifetime of loving collecting, mounting and cataloguing by Mr. Hutchings and his family. Their main interest now is keeping It Intact, and keeping it here, where it was collected They want Lehi to have the benefit of it. The museum, as Mr. Hutchings puts it, is his legacy to his family and his community. As is so often the case, Mr. Hutchings is much more famous outside of Utah than within his native state. His fame Is among naturalists of the nation, and people from all states and many foreign countries anual-l- y travel to Utah to see his non-politic- non-prof- it, al de-spre- ad opinion. Let us Nominated 1 I Vv . r take advantage cf Inter- national Red Cross Day, then, to rededicate ourselves to the service of humanity under the Red Cross emblem if only because through its constructive power for good we may help avert the terrible catastrophe of world destruction foreshadowed by the mushroom cloud over Eniwetok.
