Mrs. Armstrong, a trained dramatic reader, presented a number of her original poems. She has also written a number of songs, both lyrics and music. Warren Kirk well known musician of Pleasant Grove, sang the songs to Mrs. Armstrong's piano accompaniment Mrs. Armstrong, who has formerly lived in New York Qty, added an appeaUing inbackexground to her composition which conditions of planation brought them about. Mrs. Don Southwick was hostess for the affair at her home, assisted by Mrs. Eldon Clark as Mrs. Clark gave the litany and Mrs. Lynn Webb, took charge of the meeting. A subscription to the Red Cross was made.. Plans for a cake and candy sale were completed. Mrs. Southwick had decorated her home with spring flowers and attractive potted plants. Her two young sons, Tracey and Bobbie, entertained the group with trombone and piano selections. There were 18 members present vice-preside- SISTERS GATHER FOR BIRTHDAY DINNER Following a family custom the six Gilchrist sisters gathered at the home of Mrs. James (Alice) Trinnaman in Salt Lake City, Monday, March 22. The occasion was Mrs. Trinnaman's birthday. Her two daughters, Mrs. Wallace Sorenson and Mrs. Frank White of Salt Lake City, were In charge of the dinner which featured a pretty decorated cake. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Peterson (Lilith), Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stoker (Jan-ette- ), Mrs. Herman Allred (Ada) were accompanied by Mrs. Odell Peck, a niece. Mrs. Zina Wood-houwas present from Burley, Idaho, and Mrs. John Chapman (Athens) from Layton. Elaborate costumes are being prepared to furnish an authentic setting for the drama. Everyone 'in the ward over twelve years of age is invited to join in the party which will include a program and dancing. Re freshments will be served. Carson have returned home after ten days spent in Logan, Ogden and Salt Lake City, with their children. They were guests cf Dr. and Mrs. Junior D. Carson in Logan. Highlight of their stay was the sacrament meeting at which baby Jill Carson was blessed by her grandfather. In Ogdcn they visited with Mr, and Mrs. Paul Mathew-so- n (Bertha), also calling on Mrs. Maizle Thomas, former Fairfield resident. Mrs. Thomas sends her regards to her former neighbors and friends in this area. They returned home with Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Circuit (Delia) with whom they visited in Salt Lake Qty. ENTERTAINS Mrs. Mahlon Peck entertained at a family party In honor of the birthday of her mother, Mrs. Nellie McDaniel of Alpine, last Friday. - Included in the dinner group were her son, Mr, and Mrs. Wayne DcDaniel of Alpine, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Pearson, her daughter, of Salt Lake City; Mrs. John Adams, a sister, and brother. Word was received here by Mrs. James Beverley that her grandson, Nordell Carroll, 19, of Seward, Alaska, is in poor condition following brain surgery performed some three weeks ago in a Seattle, Washington, hospital The young man came through the operation with flying colors was reported, but conditions which baffle the doctors in charge have retarded his recovery. Nordell, who remained here with relatives following a successful brain operation some five years ago, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ward CarrolL His mother is with him in Seattle.
