Parents and teachers will meet together in the school auditorium, Parent-teache- rs Local Guardsmen Attend Officers Convention Saturday The Utah National Guard Officers Association held their annual convention Saturday at the Hotel Nevvhouse in Salt Lake City. Attending from Lehi were Major and Mrs. Howard W. Rob- inson, Lt. and Mrs. Ned Wilson, Lt. and Mrs. Ralph Roberts, and Warrant Officer Maurice Dahl. Also present were Burlin Bates, air officer, and Warrant Officer Calvin Beveridge and Lt. Robert Wilson of American Fork. Principal speakers at the meet were Lt. Gen. Joseph H. Atkinson, Air Defense Comcommander, mand, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Franklin L. Orth, deputy undersecretary of the Army. Most of the officers were attired in their new uniforms of dark green, consisting of a long blouse jacket and trousers with a darker green strip down the leg. All Army officers are required to change to the new uniform by October 1, and enlisted men will acquire similar uniforms by 1958 or 1959. Russell Innes Named to State Mental Health Board E. Russell Innes, publisher of the Lehi Free Press, was elected to the state board of the Utah Association for Mental Health during the association's annual meeting, held in Salt Lake last week. Dr. J. Weldon Moffitt, assistant professor of psychology at Brig- ham Young University was elected president, suceeding Mrs. I. R. Dr. Morrison, Salt Lake City. memMoffit is a ber of the governor's State AdMental of visory Committee a Health, and was previously president of the Utah County Chapter of the association. Other new officers are Mrs. M. Mrs. A. Harris, Jr., John B. Cannon, secretary, and Ray M. Smith, treasurer, all of Salt Lake City. Besides Mr. Innes, board members elected include Mrs. S. L. Moskowitz, Brigham City, Dr. C. Jay Skidmore, Mrs. Logan; Carmen Frederickson, Logan ; Mrs. Jack Goodman, Salt Lake City; Norma Jensen, Brigham City; Dr. Don C. Carter, Logan; Dr. Ray Canning, Provo and E. T. Gray, Ogden. parents will meet in the schoolrooms in groups with the teachers. Here the teachers will explain their teaching courses for the year, their method of procedure, and discuss reasons for his choice of the particular methods involved in his teaching. A visiting day will be scheduled lf.ter, Mrs. Spjut said, wherein the pf rents, may meet privately with the teachers and discuss problems of the individual students. This "Back to School Night" is to acquaint the parents with the teachers' methods and help faster understanding between the school and the home. This is the first time this plan has been tried in Lehi. Information slips will be sent home with each student, Mrs. Spjut said.
