Show LEHI FREE PRESS, LEHI, UTAH THURSDAY, MAY 1, 1956 Ward Sets Thomas Russori, Seventh Welfare Banquet Dies Lehi Native, Friday, May 3 The Seventh Ward welfare banwill be held Friday, May 4, Of Heart Ailment quet in the ward amusement hall, beThomas J. Russon, 78, died in ginning at a Salt Lake City hospital April 12, following a heart attack. A well known native of Lehi, he was born December 17, 1878, a son of Thomas and Millie Jones Russon. Educated in the Lehi schools, he also attended Brigham Young University. On November 30, 1904, he was married to Beda Johnson of Provo Bench, in the Manti Temple. She died in June, 1955. They lived In Lehi, later moved to Provo Bench and later to Murray where he and operated a confectionary lunch room across from Granite high school for some years. He fulfilled a mission in the He Southern States, 1901-190was a High Priest and MIA worker in his ward. He is survived by a son, Wendell Russon, Murray; a daughter, Mrs. M. M. (Alene) Baird, Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren; two brothers, John Russon, La Habra, California, and Samuel Russon, Los Angeles; four sisters, Mrs. E. A. (Lunetta) Chugg, Providence; Mrs. L. C. (Myrtle) Holbrook, Clearfield; Mrs. E. R. (Rose) and Clark, Oakland, California, Mrs. Otto (Florence) Mitchell of American Fork. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lott A. Russon of Lehi, and a sister, Mrs. Amy Manwaring of California. Among family members who attended funeral services In Murray last Saturday, were Mrs. Sadie L. Russon, Mrs. Orville Vibbert, Lehi, and Mrs. Darrell Hansen, American Fork, nd Mrs. Berniece Hopkins, Provo. "This is the first time I've been so lucky," was the delighted comment of Mrs. Alvin Ross of this city, lucky winner of the beautiful heirloom quilt, made by members of the Athenian Club as a grand prize in their fund raising project. "I never win anything, anyway," was her previous comment when she bought a ticket. Proceeds from the project will be used in carrying out the club's civic assignment. E. N. Pearson, industrial arts instructor, reports that the following students received award ribbons and merchandise certificates: Wesley Peterson, 1st; Carl Stewart, second; Brian Bone second and third; Stanley Wan-lasthird; and Ronald Clark, s, honorable mention. Over 500 entries were on ex hibit and included wood work, leather work, mechanical drawing, metal work, plastics and basketry. Lehi Commercial Students to Attend Meet Twenty outstanding commercial students will represent Lehi High at the annual commercial contest sponsored by he Brigham Young University, May 11. Preparations are now being made for the competition which will include participants from throughout the state. Ekins. A bountiful dinner was prepared by the Relief Society and served Priesthood style. smorgasbord members set up the long tables which were attractively decorated Spring by the Primary officers. garlands for forsythia and flowering peach combined in a motif of pink and gold. Tickets were distributed by the Melchizedek Priesthood quorums. The MIA and Aaronic Priesthood were in charge of cleaning up operations. The Sunday School arranged the program which was composed of talent from the Lehi high school. Robert Webb acted as master of JoAnn Evans and ceremonies. Bilile Evans furnished dancing; Deborah Wilson presented a pantonine. A solo by Kay Christen-se- n was accompanied by Anna Joy Woffinden, and Rhea Wanlass accompanied the vocal selection by Sandra Peterson. A duet by Kathryn Stephensen and Anna Joy Woffinden was accompanied by Donna Webb. Chorus selections were furnished by a group from the Junior Class and also a sextette from the Sophomore Class. nt Pays SISTERS HONOR MEMORY OF MOTHER AT DIXXER PARTY Mrs. Sarah E. Gaisford, now 83 years old, was the hostess for a gathering of sisters and other family members, in memory of her mother, the late Mrs. Louisa Moffat. The affair was held at the home of her daughter Elsie, Mrs. Delbert Sudweeks. Present for dinner were her sisters and their husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wannecutt, Mr. and Mrs. William Nott, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Buckley, all of Salt Lake City; her daughters and son, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Culmer, Salem; Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Christofferson and James Gaisford, Lehi. Mrs. Gaisford had prepared a pair of pillow cases with beautiful crocheted lace for each of her sisters. A number of the grandchildren came later for cake and ice cream. Mrs. Gaisford is now considerably improved after a fall four weeks ago.
