Alter Far East Duty Paul D. Calton. seaman. USN. son of Mr. Joseph A. Calton of Lehi. arrived at San Diego. California today aboard the amphibious force attack cargo ship USS Washburn. The Washburn, returning from her second tour of duty in the Far East, left the United States last June for the Korean FIFTH WARD w ar zone. When the war started in Korea. the Washburn was enroute to Alaska. After unloading her cargo at Point Barrow she was ordered to Inchon by way of Bremerton. Washington, and Japan. She was the first cargo ship to arrive for the Inchon landing and the second ship of the attack force to unload cargo and troops. Later, she participated in the Wonsan landings. After returning to San Diego in time for Christmas last year. Counselor Zina Willes took charge of the Fifth Ward gathering. Christmas carols were sung with Lula Anderson accompanying. The literary lesson was given by Class Leader Ruth Banks. A medley of Christmas airs was played on the violin by Vera Trane, accompanied by her mother. Mrs. Anderson. A musical reading was given by Ruth Banks and Grace Morgan. Attractive refreshments were served.
