' - , i The Lehi Stake Genealogical Committee announces that on Wednesday, December 7, the 68th Quorum of Seventies and their wives will sponsor an endowment excursion to the Salt Lake Temple. They look forward to having a large representation from all the wards and all members of the priesthood, their irtvas and all others who would like to participate on this occasion. The sessions are convenient for all who wish to go. Taylor. Lehi's program is part of a state wide safety education pro gram sponsored cooperatively by the American Legion and State Safety Council. The local unit of the American Legion and the Lehi Safety Council have assisted with the details of arrange ment. Children of the junior and senior high school will be excused from class work to attend the safety program. As the student body will be divided, half attending each assembly, it is anticipated that adequate seating facilities will be available for the public. The program featuring the presentation of a gift a minute by Santa Claus with the help of the Jaycees and local merchants to Lehi shoppers will btgin Saturday, December 17, at 7:30 p. m. at the bank corner on Main Street with the turning on of the Christmas lights in both business sections, according to Joseph Forestier, chairman of the Jay-cChristmas. Hundreds of dollars in prizes will be given to persons attending the gigantic program featuring a parade, band music, special choral selections, and a float complete with a fireplace and Santa Claus .Jn the ioncluding proactivity of a month-lon- g gram. Mr. Forestier emphasized that persons must be present to be eligible for a gift. Merchants and their families participating in the program will not be eligible to receive gifts. The show held its opening formance last week at the tabernacle and an enthusiastic audience applauded as a large cast of over thirty people presented a pleasing variety of songs, comedy, pantomine, and characterization. Included in the performance by quorum members and their wives were quartet numbers, ladies' "trios, "end men" who had the appreciative audience in stitches, and two 'pickaninies' who almost stole the show. Quorum leaders announce that the quorum plans to sponsor an annual project, and express ap preciation for the splendid sup port given their initial under taking. V 9 DARHL TINGEY- - In an interview this week Elder Tingey stated that he having to leave the mission field, but that it seemed good to get back on "the solid ground of Lehi again." Darhl contracted pneumonia shortly before the time for his release to become effective and left several weeks before his scheduled release date at the suggestion of the mission president. He states that except for the fatigue of travel and weakness incident to convalescing he feels fine and looks forward to starting work soon on the farm with his father. Open house will be held Sunday afternoon at the Tingey residence near the Point-of-tMountain. All Darhl's friends and former classmates are in vited to attend. Darhl labored for some eighteen months at Laupahoe-ho- e, re(-gre- tted he which means "leaf of lava," where he was assigned to assist with the supervision of branch affairs. It will be remembered that it was at that lava penin sula that a tidal wave in 1946 took the lives of some thirty natives. LEHI RIDING CLUB TO HOLD CHRISTMAS PARTY Calamity Janes, members of the Ladies Riding Club, will hold their Christmas party Friday, December 9, at 8 p. m. at the home of Mrs. Myrtle Price.
