He departed for the European theater in April of 1945 for a 15 month tour of duty. While in Europe Sgt Evans was a member of the 16th Armoured Field Artillery Battalion as Personnel Sgt He served in Ireland, Scotland, England, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and Italy.
