Another convincing demonstration of the outstanding service of registered on Union Pacific trains was brought to light this week when it was learned that a new stewardess, Miss Laura Mary Shepherd, had officiated at the birth of a child to Mrs. Nellie Leuthje in the woman's rest room of a Challenger coach. Although Miss Shepherd had been in the employ of the railroad only three weeks, her rigid training, particularly in the care of women and children as required of all Union Pacific fitted her for the emergency and she gave expert medical assistance to both mother and child for fifteen minutes before arrival of a physician The baby, a boy. was born at 3:40 A.M. as the Challenr ger was speeding between and Riner. Guests were recieved by Miss Ellen Walker, and Mrs. Smith .f Pleasant Grove, Miss Fern Birch, Miss Lois and Mrs. Reed Robinson of American Fork; Mrs. Margaret Potter, Miss Ruth and Mrs. W. L. Worlton and MrsHelen Christensen of Lehi. Miss Ellen Walker of Pleasant Grove explained the purpose of Home Economics summer program.
