I wish to state that no man in Lehi or Utah County re ceived that large a check under the wheat control program. Farmers are paid for renting contract acreage to the government and for restricting wheat acreage, in order to give the famers parity price for wheat. Who wants to go back to prices of 1932 on any farm products" Thru the wheat program farmers associate themselves together to regulate supply and demand, the same as other industries do. They receive adjustment payments from the government to bring up the parity price equal to the purchasing powe that a farmer had in the years 1909 to 19H which was normal years. For example a farmer could take a TO BE DEVELOPED Ms. field, A CORRECTION PROPERTY IN In honor of the marriage of Mr. The Utah Gelena Corporation has and Mrs. Jay Richards, a wedding recently purchased the Austin group held in the DansArt, A in let 5-- AM. It should have read: One of the largest payments is for nearly $1,8000.00, for a farmer in Lehi for renting contract acraeage to the government and for restricting wheat acreage. " The exact amount would not be given, but would be be tween $1,500.00 and $1,800.00 accord ing to statement made by Mr. Lyman Rich, County Aeent. The total approixmate amount paid in the Lehi district was 51Z.500.UO. The following item by J. Earl Smith is self explanatory: , . J I in telephone Monday night that "we have two eood fires and plenty of beddine and plenty of bedding and we are entirely comfortable. There are ample provisions in the ranger station here to keep us from starving but we only hope that rescue parties will reach us soon." Miss Peterson said. She expressed considerable concern over their predicament but hoped that relatives and friends would not. worry about them. A private phone line provides their only contact with the outside. The four women, two Kansas City, Mo., salesladies and Miss Moreho Allred. Lehi. also a Richfield high school teacner, were marooned in the forest about 4 p. m. Sunday when in rapidly falling snow stalled the car which they were traveling to Cedar Mrs. City. Mrs. Dorothy Brown and HarMrs. Ura and Brown Dorothy rington are the two sales ladies. in They have been woki'ng recently a for left trip Richfield and Sunday to Cedar City via Bryce canyon. The two school teachers accompanaied them for what was intended to be a Sunday "joy ride." Nigh t in Car When the group reached Navajo lake the snow became so deep further progress was impossible s the women spent the night in their car. After trying most of Monday moiling to get the car out the women walked back three miles to the ranger station which they broke into and contacted Cedar City by phone, advising the Escalante hotel of their predicament. Word was immediately given to state road officials who ordered crews from highway 89 to proceed there immediately. Supervisor James E. Gurr of the forest here indicated that it would probably be impossible to reach tbe women before Tuesday mornng it was about a five-hojob with a snow 89 to the station. from highway plow The elevation at Duck creek is 8400 feet and it is not unusual for thirty inches of snow to fall there in one storm, Mr. Gurr said. The women are in no immediate danger, however, as the basement at the station is amply filled with both wood and coal. Apparently the it found women had "perfectly safe and comfortable," Monday night as ur bushel of wheat and purchase a certain commodity in the years 1909 to 1914 and the purpose of the program is to bring the price of wheat up so they reported. the same bushel of wheat could pur-it- v today.
