More snow than for several years. .About 250 bags of candy and nuts were given to children at the Green River Civic Association unnstmas Eve celebration on Main street. Santa Claus appeared in person and was assisted by the Boy Scouts. Following the distribution of the candy, the young people of the Community church presented a Christmas pageant to a large crowd. A disastrous fire was narrowly averted Christmas day when a defective flue caused a fire at the George Franz's home. Volunteer firemen soon put the fire out. The Greenriver High school basketball team made a trip to Monticello and Blanding last week losing both games. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. McClurg of Crawford, Colorado, spent several days in town last week visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wilcox and sons accompanied them back to Crawford for a visit with them and. with Mrs. Wilcox's parents, Mr. and Mrs. James McPher-son. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bradley and Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Brown drove to Atchee, Colo., for the Christmas holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Wilson and daughter drove to Provo to spend Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Jorgensen and son. Mr. and Mrs. John Folsom, Mrs. Margaret Johnson, Mrs. Albert Drake and daughter were Fruita visitors last week, where Mrs. Drake's daughter received medical attention. Mrs. J. R. Cheney returned last week from a two weeks trip to Los Mr. and Mrs. J. J.
