W. Sutherland as the President has set aside this week of April 12 to 17 as "clean up" week. All residents are expected to do their share to put over the project and keep "Utah Clean and Beautiful." Each home owner is asked to clean and improve the street adjacent to his home as well as clean and tidy his home yard and haul away debris. Trucks will be available for objects too large for individuals to haul away .by themselves. For truck service residents are asked to contact Keith Coombs, Gale Welling or Richard Bothwell Group Plans Meetings by Karen Stokes from the Young Marrieds Bothwell Ward met Saturday evening at the Golden Bowl for an evening of bowling. Welcome Home Held A large crowd of friends and relatives attended a welcome home for Elder Bruce Anderson Sunday evening. Special guests were Bruce's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Anderson of Corona, Calif. Bruce is now attending school at U.S.U. in n Logan. VITAL BR Takes First Mr. and Mrs. Daines Lund and boys and Mr. and Mrs. Yeppa Y. Lund were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schumann. They live in Salt Lake City, Utah. John Laws Mr. and Mrs. spent last week in California. They drove to Fairfield to be with John's sister, Mrs. Fay Edward who underwent major surgery at Travis Air Base Hospital. Before returning home they visited Mr. and Mrs. Ned Newman and boys also at Travis Air Base. They returned home Sunday. Officers and teachers of the Primary had a social in honor of Mrs. Arlene Stark Wednesday afternoon before Primary. Mrs. Stark who is Historian for the Primary organization is moving with her family to Idaho. Mrs. Arlene Stark accompanied Mrs. Sonja Holt to the Bear River High School Monday evening where they attended a meeting of the Utah Young Homemakers. Statistics League Game by Lynn Rose Bear River High School's s baseball team edged out Bobcats last weekend on the Bears' diamond. Both teams were out to win the game, since it was the first League game of the season. Tom Shaw, the Bears' winning pitcher, proved to be too much for the Bobcats with his outstanding accuracy and change of pitching pace. William Stone home to surprise Maurine Stone on her birthday. The evening was spent in games and refreshments were served. Attended Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bishop attended the wedding and reception for their granddaughter, Patricia Ann Wiggill of Layton and Perry B. Tippetts of Kaysville. The ceremony was performed Friday in the Salt Lake Temple by Marion D. Hanks. A reception, at the Layton Stake Center was held Saturday evening. Patricia is the daughter of Mary and Der-raWiggill of Layton. Irene Hess, daughter of Beth and Dean Hess of Denver, Colo., was one of the bridesmaids at the wedding of her cousin, and she spent a few days here with her grandparents, the Bishops. h Lions Club Receives Trophy The famous "Traveling Tr phy" of the Lions Clubs of this area was presented to the local Lions Club at their meeting last week. The presentation was made by Ronald Roberts, President of the Smithfwld Club. As is the custom the Tremonton Club will keep the trophy one month, after which it will be presented to another club by the local Lions President. Don 15, 1965 Williams. Senator Bill was the speaker for the Wal-dro- n evening, Sarah B. Jensen To Observe 7th Anniversary Mrs. Sarah Bigler Jensen of Garland will observe her 87th birthday Friday with her family and close friends. She was born April 16. 1878 in Collinston. a daughter of Mark and Asineth Patten Bigler. She married Hyrum Jensen June 21. 1901 in the Logan LDS Temple. Mr. Jensen died Dec. 12. 1949. Mrs. Jensen lived all her life in Collinston until 20 years ago when she moved to Garland. She has been an active mem-- ' ber of the LDS Church and worked as a visiting teacher in Relief She is a Society. former member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Mrs. Jensen is the mother of four sons and daughters, three of whom are now living. They are Mark and LaGrande Jenand sen, both of Collinston Elmer. Garland. She also has 10 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. |
