Show Garland News Weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Bowcutt and family were Mr. and Mrs. Gene Sewell and daughter, Stephanie, of Driggs, Ida. Mike and Steve Sewell who have been spending the past two weeks with their grandparents while their parents were in Detroit, returned to their home at Driggs. Sunday evening Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Bowcutt visited friends at Salt Lake City and also attended a Testimonial for Mr. and Mrs. E. Clive Earl, who are leaving for an Australian L.D.S. Mission. Visitors during the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. 0. C. Davis were Orval Will- iams and sons, Wayne and Larry, of Pocatello. PINOCHLE CLUB ENTERTAINED Mrs. Vera Westergard graciously entertained the Pinochle Club at her home Friday evening. Mrs. Iva Godfrey was a special guest. Prizes went to Mrs. Dona Chiodo, Mrs. Annie Madge Thompson and Mrs. refreshments Homer. Light were served. Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Nielson spent Sunday visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Anema in Og-de- Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ellery Hall were Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Hall of Brigham. Visit In Idaho Mrs Fern Huish and grand son, Michael Giles spent the weekend in Idaho Falls visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Burton Huish and family. Mrs. Venna Hess has returnthe past ed after spending three weeks at Amarilla, San Angelo and Dallas, Texas. While there she was a house-gueat the home of her sons, Dill Hess and Neal Hess. Gives Family Party Mr. and Mrs. Arbon Bowcutt entertained at a family party at their home Saturday evening. Guests included Mrs. Bert of Svedin and four children Boise, Ida., Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Archibald and family and Mr. and Mrs. Richard White and family. The party was in compliment to Mrs. Archibald who was celebrating her birthday. Mrs. Svedin and family remained for the weekend. Haws Marble who is on the faculty of the Seminary at East High in Salt Lake City was guest speaker at Garland First Ward Sunday evening. Haws is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Marble. st Vern Ogden Sunday honoring Coombs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Coombs who is leaving for an L.D.S. Mission to Swethe meeting den. Ariz. Earl Manning of Salt Lake City spent Wednesday visiting with Mr. and Mrs. David Manning. He also visited with his sister. Mrs. Clair Firth and family at Bothwell. Spending Sunday and Monday with Mrs. Beatrice Wright were Mr. and Mrs. John F. Wright and three daughters of Salt Lake City. Other Sunday visitors were Miss Gertrude Eberhart and Miss Betty Jensen of Salt Lake City. Mrs. C. P. Pettersen spent a few days of last week with her daughter, Mrs. Bill Isom at Salt Lake City. Mrs. Isom and three children accompanied her home and remained for the weekend. Tuesday Mrs. Petter-so- n accompanied her daughter, Mrs. Charlene Corbridge of Malad to Brigham to visit with relatives. GlU'lcUm moved to Garland where they made their permanent home. Mr. Petterson was a successful cattleman until his retirement. Mr. Petterson has been active He is in Church organizations. a High Priest. He has also been in civic affairs. Born at West Weber in 188?, Mr. Petterson is a son of Hans F. and Mary Ann McFarland Petterson. He received his education at Ogden and later graduated from the University of Utah. He taught school for two years. On June 1, 1911 he married Ethel Porter in Ogden. They served as mayor of Garland, and was a city councilman instrumental in getting the first sewer and water rights in Garland. He and his wife are the parents of four daughters, three of whom are living: Mrs. John Chambers of Eu(Florence) gene, Isom Mrs. bridge later had their marriage solin the Logan Temple.
