The 14 couples spent the evening playing games under the direction of Waldo Cook. Nada Hall sang two solos accompanied by Elaine Perry. The trip came about as a Christmas present from (heir children. Carol an! Vaughan Rhodes. Ronnie, Sailie and Buzz Germer. The transportation arrangements were made by their Sailie, who is an airline they visited the Mormon Temple. Church College of Hawii. and the Polynesian Cultural Center, they toured Kauai by car where they met several people from Salt Lake City, then on to Maui. On the return trip they flew to California where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Germer and Mrs. Lizzie Germer at Long Beach and in Compton with John G. Hansen. They were called home by the serious illness of Dr. Olsen's mother, Mrs. Ernest Olsen, of Brigham City. Mrs. Floyd Gardner, Mrs. Homer Marble and Mrs. Wayne Fryer were honored at the Founder's Day meeting of the P.T.A., Honeyville Thursday. They were past presidents of the association. Miller announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Linda to Barton Nicholas Stone, son of Nelson S. Stone of Truckee, Calif. April 16 has been circled by the couple for their nuptials. Miss Miller is a graduate of Bear River High school and Seminary, where she was on the Bearfax staff, a drill master in the Pep Club and a member of the A Cappella Choir. She is a Junior at Utah State University, where she is majoring in psychology. She is a member of the Buzzer staff and a pledge of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Mr. Stone has studied two years at Sierra College in California, and has attended Utah State University two years. He is a member of the College varsity ski team. HARRISON Joel and Gayle Petersen Harrison of Ogden proudly announce the arrival of a baby girl born Feb. 17. Smith of Garland attended the farewell testimonial in Salt Lake City Sunday evening for her grandson, Ronald J. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton P. Smith. A High Barbara Conch Will Observe 90th Birthday Mrs. Barbara Anne Stafford Couch, one of the oldest women in Bear River Valley will observe her ninetieth birthday March 4 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. F. Hassell in Dewewille. Mrs. Couch has been seriously ill for the past two weeks, but she mentioned a desire to live until her ninetieth anniversary, when she would have lived longer than anv of her family. Mrs. Couch was born in 1875 in Brooksville, Fla.. a daughter of Joshua and Sally Heddie Stafford. She married James Couch in 1892, and thev moved to Grand Junction. Colo., and Wash., before Golden Dale, coming to Garland in 1916. Mr Couch was a farmer death. May 31, 1938. until Mrs. Couch continued to live alone until sx years ago when she went to live with her daughter in Deweyville. She has been an active member of the L.D.S. Church in her earlier life. A mother of seven sons and daughters, five of them are now living. Thev are John A. F. Couch. Logan: Mrs. (Mattie) Hassel: and Mrs. Oris (Eunice) Jensen. Dewev-vlllMrs. Walter (Lula) Sudbury. Salt Lake City and James Couch, Brigham City. She also has 52 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Yolanda Allen graciously entertained members of NAVY ANNOUNCES PROGRAM FOR SENIOR BOYS and-iiea- ' D. C. A delay of up to four months is authorized under the new plan. Captain C. D. Simonsen, Director of Naval Recruiting, in announcing the new regulations, said the primary advantage would be to allow young men to definitely establish their eligibility for Naval Service prior to graduation, enabling them and the Navy to plan ahead. Captain Simonsen took the opportunity to reaffirm t h c Navy's longstanding policy. He said that under the new program, should a young man drop from school after enlistment, he must have a recommendation from his former principal or face immediate discharge. Chief Jimmie R. Carnes, Local Navy Recruiter, announced that he will be in the Trernonton and Garland area each Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until Noon, to interview interested young men. HENRY KUNZLER Reception to Honor Park Valley Couple on Golden Wedding Date The daughters of Mr. and Mrs. J. Henry Kunzler of Park Valley are inviting friends and relatives of their parents to attend a reception and dance in honor of their Golden Wedding anniversary. The reception will be held at the Park Valley Ward building Saturday, March fi. beginning at 9 p.m. They request no gifts. Mr. Kunzler was torn at Rosette. I'tah. Feb. 18, 1883. a son of Jacob and Louise Otl Kunzler. Ho received his education there and at Brigham Voting College in Iogan. He was the first missionary called from the Rosette Ward. He labored in the Swiss Mission for 2'i years. Edna Kunzler was born Dec. 5. Ifi2 in Salt Lake City, a daughter of Joseph E. F. and Evelyn Rosette Harmon Pugs-ley- . She attended Salt Lake City schools and Henager's Business College and worked as a stenographer at the City and County building in Salt Lake City for many years. They were married March 10. 1915 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and moved to Rosette to make their home. They rearand ed their family there, cattle operated a successful ranch. They have both been active in all the organizations of the church, and have held many positions of leadership. In January 1952, Mr. Kunzler again went to Switzerland for another two year mission. During his absence, Mrs. Kunzler lived in Salt Lake City with her daughter, Beryl. Their five daughters are Mrs. Noble of Edward C. Beryl Oakland. Calif.; Mrs. Jack C. 'Doris Thompson. Providence: Mrs. S. Reid 'Aft on1 Jones, Salt Lake City: Mrs. Orlin C. 'Margie' Vost, Ogden: and Mrs. Harvey A. 'Norine Carter, Park Valley. The couple also have 23 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Grace B rough To Observe 80th ft An niversary 1 Grace N. Brough and family and relatives will observe her 80th birthday on March 3 at the Tropical Cafe in Brigham City. Mrs. Brough was born March 3. 1885 in Willard, a daughter of Nephi and Mary Cook Brun-keMrs. Jr a-- r. She married Jesse Nicholas on Dec. 19, 1906. They made their home in Willard until 1913 when to they moved Promontory. Her husband died in 1938 and in 1942 she moved to Willard and worked at the Ogden Ordance Depot and at the Bushnell Hospital in Brigham City. Ifl 1949 she moved to Trernonton to live with her son, Joseph Nicholas. On June 30, 1957 she married R. Gilbert Brough in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. Mrs. Brough is an active member of the L.D.S. Church. She served in the Stake Relief Society Presidency and in the Ward Relief Society Presidency and as a class room teacher and a visiting teacher. She has been an officer in the County D.U.P., and was chaplain two terms in the Midland Camp and also vice Capt. in the Midland Camp. She has also worked in the Farm Bureau. She was instrumental in getting a Sunday School organized at Promontory and worked in that organization as long as she lived there. She is the mother of five sons and two daughters, five of i - 1 " MRS. GRACE BROUGH whom are living, Joseph, Promontory; Jesse.
