Show Letters To Editor: I felt I couldn't. Recently I have been listento some spots on TV my heart this valley for all that they have done in my behalf. If "a man's greatest asset is the value of his friends" then surely I am the richest of all men!! ing called "That's What's Right With America." I feel that the entire cast of young people who took part in the benefit program for Dee should be on that Atkins spot. What a tremendous thing for these young people to do. If you didn't go you missed a treat. Our valley is packed with wonderful young people stretching to reach their potential. Talent unlimited, congregated in the Young Adult program. It was heart warming indeed to see Dee Atkins walk slowly up to the microphone Sincerest thanks and love, DeeG.Atkin Young Aduh Sheriff Ambushes Program Praised Telephone Company? Elder County's new sheriff. Art Redding, has Box taken it upon ambush you himself by to actions which will increase your telephone bill $25 per year per customer. This, despite prior attempts of Commissioner Don Chase to arrange meetings to see if the Sheriff's problem could be resolved before your service got worse and more money was needed. It has to do with our use of County roads as airplane landing areas so we can sepvice and repair the telephones. Even though former Commissioner Malcolm j editor: Last week I intended to Knowing what would happen to your telephone service if the Sheriff's use of an old 1936 law were upheld (there are no legal landing areas anywhere in the west 78 miles of the County) we called community meetings in both Grouse Creek and Park Valley to discuss the matter. No one voiced any objection to our use of the roads to land on as we had been doing. Several State agencies have indicated that it is too bad we have a Sheriff this way, but there is little they can do. Our viewpoint is that the last time someone locally complained and people "outside" came down on us, it slowed telephone development down for years. We are only now recovering from that experience. Remember, our trips to town and in court is not paid by us, but by each and every one of you, together. Permit your elected officials to obstruct an efficient system of repair and service and it only takes money away from what we ought to be using it for in upgrading of the system, or for repair, etc. We understand that RC&D has passed resolutions approving the establishment of landing strips in both Park Valley and Grouse Creek. We further understand the State Aero Dept. has funding for such development. It is Young gave u&verbal OK (to use the roads as we have been doing for 13 years), it appears there were some who disagreed. They complained. The Sheriff must have a power struggle going so, for reasons unknown, he decided to defy reason. He did not even try to find out the facts, but first induced Don Chase to write, telling us there had been no formal resolution authorizing our use of the roads. We then gave Chase a copy of our earlier acknowledgement of Young's approval. Further discussion was underway when the Sheriff spent $140 of taxpayer money to send deputy Olsen out to see if we did use the roads. We then called Don Chase to inquire what was going on, and he an established economic suggested we come in and that a meeting be held with fact, that any area is as sound as its airport program the Sheriff and try to resolve and an area without an their problem. We agreed and tried to confirm a time airport, or landing area is and date.
