He was active in the community while living here. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bingham returned Thursday from a trip to Canada and the Pacific North West They took their grandaughter, Karen Bingham, home to the Waldon Lambert afte r spending he r vacation here They live in Burn's lake, B.C. Here they visited points of interest They ferried 18 miles across a lake to attend church in a small branch. He was bom May 11, 1892, in Salt Lake City, the son of Reuben and Esther Elizabeth Checketts. He was reared and educated in Providence and Tremonton. He came to East Tremonton in 1905 as a young boy to labor In the fields to help support his mother and younger sisters. They lived in Tremonton, West Bear River City before moving to Bear River City in 1925, where he owned and operated his farm. Mrs. Checketts died May 10, 1957. He married Grace Freeman Downing April 23, 1958 in the Logan LDS temple. They fulfilled a mission for the LDS Church in the John Taylor home in Nauvoo, 111. They noved to Phoenix, Ariz., in I960. He served as a high priest in the Phoenix, Ariz., Sixteenth ward, where he was presently serving as a special interest teacher in his own home. He has served in the past as bishop at Bear River City for 10 years, Sunday School superintendent, senior Aaronic priesthood leader, member of the genealogical committee and home teach- lor, Hunter, Utah; Mrs. George (Arietta) Thornley, Thatcher; and two steptwo step-so-ns daughters, William Cole, and Mrs. Dale (Cora) Kober, and Mrs. Robert (Alberta) Tattum, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; Karl Cole , Joseph City, Ariz.; 66 grandchildren; 44 er.
