Club News A BIRTHS 1,11 Hi Sherman and Charlene Earl of Beaver Dam now have two boys and two girls. The latest addition to the family was a boy, who was named Sherman David. i ADAMS RECEPTIOS HONORS Ray and Donna Potter Adams of Brigham City have a new baby boy born March 18. He is their third boy and they have one girl. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Potter are the maternal grandparents. MR. AND MRS. Schindler, was reviewed in a very interesting and outstanding manner by Mrs. Buchanan. She used flannel board illustrations in emphasizing some of the important phases of the book. Mrs. Belle Wood of Garland was hostess, and she served delicious refreshments, to the club members and her two special guests, Mrs. Margaret Owens and Mrs. Barbara Buchanan. CIVIC LEAGUE HEARS DR. BOYD SHEETS Dr. Boyd V. Sheets of the "University of Utah was guest speaker, at the meeting of the Civic League held Thursday afternoon. Dr. Sheets spoke, on the work of helping the child who is handicapped in his speech. He reported that plans are being made to hold a speech clinic in Tremonton for the benefit of children needing help with their speech. Mrs. Reed Palmer was hostess at the meeting, which was held at the Utah Power and Light building. She served tasty at the close of the meeting. LITERARY GUILD MEETING HELD Freeman Byington vas the gracious hostess at the meeting of the Literary Guild WedMrs. evening. Mrs. Leland Harris gave a very interesting review of the new book, "My Heart Lies South," by Elizabeth Barton BeTrevino. The hostess served a delicious luncheon. nesday ATTEND WEDDING RECEPTION Out of town relatives who came to attend the wedding of Karen Bennett and Leland Anderson last weekend included Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Bennett, Mrs. Roy Pymm, and Ada Wilde, all of Salt Lake City. They were guests at the Aarl Bennett home for the occasion. who were married recently in Elko, Nevada. The new Mrs. Dowdle was formerly Francese of Mr. and Benson, daughter Mrs. J. Lloyd Hunsaker. The bride wore a ballerina length, strapless blue nylon and net over blue taffeta gown. She wore a white orchid corsage. Attending the bride were her sister, BoDell Bensoh of Fillmore, as matron of honor and a close friend, Betty Maxwell as maid of honor. Mrs. Benson wore a dress of blue and gold and Miss Maxwell chose pink bracaded nylon over taffeta. Their corsages were pink camelias- with white carnations and baby orchids. Kristine and Nancy Benson, small .daughters of the bride, wore pink nylon dresses and carried nosegays of pink carnations. Gerwin Bradford of Brigham City performed the duties of best man for the groom. During intermission a program under the direction of Afton Checketts was given. It consisted of a solo by Ed Kerr, two dance numbers by Glenna Dawn and Monty Smith of Penrose, an acrobatic number by Irene Thorsted of Honeyville, and an accordion solo by Joan Brockman. Bob Bailey, of uncle of the bride, acted as master of ceremonies during the evening. Refreshments were served from a table covered with a crocheted cloth. The gifts were in charge of May Bailey of Ogden and Norma Hansen of Clearfield, aunts of the bride, and Connie Conger was in charge of the guest book. BREAGGEB J;: L-- 7 ... n, ENTERTAINS BOOKLORE CLUB Mrs. Jess Garfield entertained the members of the Booklore Club at her home Wednesday afternoon. Other guests were Mrs. R. G. Brough, Mrs. Steve Hales, and Mrs. Alf Manning. The program for the afternoon was arranged by Mrs. Frank Stevens. She presented Mr?, Louise Day, who gave a review of the book. "Bless This, Hojjse," by Nora Lofts, whivh was enjoyed by all present. t M. '' . , A . - - . - Og-de- - Roy Breagger and his wife, LaRene Jensen Breagger of Bear River City welcomed a baby boy to their family on March 14. They now have two of each kind. All doing well. THOMPSON Vernon and Fay Woods of Garland are the Thompson proud parents of a baby boy, (their third boy). He was born March 22, at the local hospital. CHRISTENSEN Mr. and Mrs. Joe Forsberg of Riverside, received word of safe arrival of a grand daughter, daughter of Gayle and Mar-lenForsberg Christensen at the army base in Texas. This little Miss is the first child of the couple and the second grandchild of the Forsbergs. . . iy e MR. and MRS. JOE DELL HUGGINS ATTEND WEDDING OF GARY ADAMS of IN CALIFORNIA An early spring wedding interest is that of Miss Feilila A group of relatives JOE DELL HUGGINS MARRIES OGDEN GIRL and friends of Gary Adams drove to Long Beach, Calif., over the weekend to be present at his wedding. He exchanged vows with Miss Florence Armstrong, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Armstrong of" Waterloo, Iowa, in a ceremony performed at the Navy Base Chapel in Long Beach, Sunday at noon. A reception was given in their honor that afternoon. Those who drove to California were Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Adams, of Logan, Gary's parents, Mr. and Mrsi Claude Iver-soMr. and Mrs. Dee Weese, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Westergaard, and Mr. and Mrs. Doug Allred. Mr. and Mrs. Adams entertained the couple, parents of the bride, and the Iversons at a wedding supper at Welch's Cafe in Long Beach. Gary has spent the past two years in the Medical Corps and is at present a Dental technician third class. Three Coeds Named Winners In Essay Contest Three Bear River high school junior coeds were named winners in the American Legion Auxiliary Essay contest sponsors ed locally by the DeVere Post auxiliary. Competing with 225 junior and senior essayists from Bear River high, ' Laralee ' Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Hansen of East Garland, won first place. Miss Hansen's essay treated the subject "Know .and Preserve Our American Heritage." Second-plac- e honors went to Carol Kent, daughter of Mrs. May Kent of Tremonton. Doris Udy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Udy of Riverside was third in competition. Both girls used the same theme as that used by Miss Hansen. Judging was done by a special committee of auxiliary members, who report that all essay entries were of a high type making final selection difficult. Miss Hansen's winning essay g has been placed with from other schools in the district. The number-on- e piece of writing here will compete for state honors. Mrs. Fae Ann Karo, sister of the groom was matron of honor and bridesmaids were Arlene Wlson, LaWanna Fackeralland Maurine Rigby. They wore varicolored pastel net and carried contrasting nosegays. Farrell Huggins was best man for his brother. Acting as flower girls for the bridal couple were Kristine Huggins and Sheila Huggins, wearing light blue dresses. Poultry Group Plans Annual Meeting The Tremonton Poultry Association will hold it's annual stockholders meeting and election of officers in connection with their banquet. The banquet will be served at the Tremonton Second ward hall at 7:30 to be followed by the meeting and election. Representatives from .the General office in Salt Lake City will be present to be speakers.
