Tremonton, Utah EAST GARLAND by Mrs. Eph Peterson DALE BUXTON IN PRIMARY HOSPITAL Friends of Dale Buxton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Odeen Buxton, BIRTHDAY PARTY HELD The Relief Society celebrated their birthday anniversary on the 17th with a program which featured two vocal selections from a group of ladies from Fielding, one number in costume. They called themselves "The Irish Liberace and her They were four Georges." at Hansen the piano Blanche and a quartet consisting of Velda Wood, Letha Peterson, Rhoda Welling and Dorothy Richards. Mrs. Afton Adams of Fielding played a medley of tunes on her piano accordion. The J. P. Christensen family played two instrumental numbers. A hot tray luncheon was served and the remainder of the evening spent playing games with Mr. and Mrs. Louis Larson and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Sorensen, in charge. Mrs.1 Bill Potter and Mrs. Homer Marble were Ogden visitors Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Mack Cheney of Garfield visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Shaffer. Mary Korth, Joan Grover and Rosmarie Kirkham were in Logan Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Orval Grover. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Peterson and Mrs. Eva Peterson visited at the Grover home Sunday. Mrs. Roy Oyler Jr. was in Salt Lake City Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Grover and family were in West Point at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Patterson for a birthday dinner to celebrate the anniversaries of Mr. and Mrs. Grover and Janet Patterson whose birthdays fell within a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Grover visited in Ogden and Roy Friday. Mrs. Wayne Grover, who accompanied them there, went on to West Point and spent the day. Mrs. Dora Shaffer and Jo. He is doing well, but it will be sometime before he will be able to return to school. Clarkston Friday afternoon. Mrs. Roy Oyler Sr. and Mrs. Roy Oyler Jr. were Logan visitors Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. John Isaacson of Mantua visited relatives here Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Harper and Carl and lone spent Friday visiting Mrs. Dale Gardner in Logan. Mr. and Mrs. Harper and Carl and Mrs. Mervin Holt were in Salt Lake City Saturday to attend the funeral for an aunt, Mrs. Pearl Bockman. Hold Fireside A Fireside for Mia Maids and Explorers was held Sunday evening at the Tom Harper home. Lee Allen showed films of different Temples. Refreshments were served.. Pvt. Earl Harper is at home on a 10 day furlough from Ft. Carson, Colorado. He will report back to Maryland. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Rhodes and children went to Bountiful Thursday. They left two child ren with Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Fryer then went on to Salt Lake City.. They were guests at the Edvalson home. Mr. and Mrs. Golden Adams and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Jay Mitchell of. Sparks, Nev., at the W. A. Adams home in Tremonton Sunday. Enjoy Eastern Trip Mr. and Mrs. Ross Rhodes returned with a new car from Detroit this week. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Orbin Bowcutt. They visited 2 days in Lansing, Michigan with the Barlow family, spent one day in Chicago and a trip up into Canada. The group met Mrs. Ruby Nielson at Detroit. She had gone east to meet her Mrs. Audrie daughter-in-laNielson, recently released from her mission. The " two toured points of interest in the east. Three cars were purchased at Detroit and the party returned together. They visited at Cheyenne with Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Wood, whose daughter LaRae returned with them to spent a week with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Hansen and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Hansen attended a wedding reception in Salt Lake City at the Monument Park Ward for Byron Sheffield and his new bride. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Allred visited the Parley Allreds in Ogden Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Sorensen and family of Salt Lake City spent Sunday with the Henry Sorensens. Mr. and Mrs. . Ed Isaacson were Sunday birthday dinner goiests of Mr. and Mrs. Don Ray at Roy. Their three daughters celebrate their Birthday anni versaries in March. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sorensen were Logan visitors Monday, PRESENTS PLEDGE Don E. Engdahl, Spokane, President of Kiwanis International presents his organization's Pledge of Rededication to President Eisenhower as representative of the people of America. Kiwanis Pledge Starts Year Of Public Service Pledge of to service has been announced at the beginning of a new year of activities by the local Kiwanis Club in cooperation with Kiwanis International. Don E. Engdahl, Kiwanis president, presented the pledge recently to President Eisenhower in Washington D. C. Most local presidents are mak ing similar pledges to the may- ors of tne communities in which they live. The club will encourage farmers and ranchers to plant foliage and feed for pheasants, deer and other animals and birds during coming years. Lee Kay of the Utah State Fish and Game Commission appeared at a recent meeting, to show films of the High Uintahs. Leon Halgren is president of the local Bear River Kiwanis Club, chartered just more than a year ago. This year's program chairman is George Reynolds, and Wesley Gephart is on the publicity committee. A i ( nation-wid- e FIELDING br Florence Munson GIVE ANNUAL PARTY The Relief Society held their Annual 17th of March Banquet at the Church Building Thursday evening. A lovely program was presented with Mrs. Lettie Leavitt acting as chairman. Numbers included a solo by Mrs. Bonnie Garn, a Town Paper by Mrs. Erma Garn, a dance by the girls of the 7th and 8th grades. A song by Val Leavitt who accompanied himself on his guitar. Three readings by of Logan.Har-monic- a Mr. Winterton Solo by Mr. Thompson of Elwood, a dance by the Mia Maids. The tables were attractwith spring ively decorated flowers and clever little favors. A delicious hot supper was enjoyed by about one hundred and fifty. Weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Verl Udy were Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Apgood of Salt Lake City. Saturday evening the two couples attended a reception for Mr. and Mrs. Ned Apgood at Malad. Guests at the home of Mrs. M. E. Owen Sunday were Mrs. Ed Arnell and daughter, Ina, Mr. and Mrs. and Judd-Phelp- Thursday. March small daughter of St. Charles, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Miss Margie Bolton who has been spending the past ten days receiving medical care at the St. Marks Hospital at Salt Lake City has returned home and is recuperating at the home of her sister, Mrs. M. E. Owen. Mrs. Cyril Godfrey and daughter, Lana, accompanied by Mrs. Theil Jensen and daughter, Tamara of Millville spent Saturday at Salt Lake City. Mrs. Noble Petersen and daughter, Louise spent Friday at Brigham visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Jensen and family. Visiting at the homes of Mrs. Eliza Godfrey and Mrs. Elmo Munson Thursday were Mr. and Mrs. Orson Godfrey of Lehi. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Hess spent Thursday with their dau-- . Mrs. Lynn Petersen (Beverly Cannon) and small son, David of Willow Creek, Mont., have been spending the past two weeks with Beverly's mother, Mrs. Ida Cannon and family. Visitors at the Ellwood Hess home during the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Lewis MacFarland and two daughters of Arimo, Ida., Mr. and Mrs. Percy Hess and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hess of Ogden and Mrs. Alice Petersen of Bear River City. Club Honors Members The members of the Birthday Club met at the Garland Cafe Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bishop and Mr. and Mrs. Don Hess as hosts and hostesses. The party was in compliment to Keith Moss, Gale Welling and Wayne Secrist who had observed birthday anniversaries during the past month. A delicious hot supper was enjoyed and a social held for the remainder of the evening. Mrs. E. W. Sutherland spent Monday visiting with- Mrs. Eliza S. Godfrey of Ogden. John Owen of Buhl, Idaho, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Verl Udy and family Monday. Mrs. Clark Rudd spent the forepart of last week visiting - with her daughter, Mrs. Leora McCowan and family at Clearfield. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Udy and daughter Merlyn attended a family dinner party held at the home of Mrs. Udy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Godfrey at Clarkston Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ellwood Hess visited with Mrs. Hess' mother, Mrs. Mary M. Morgan at Salt Lake City last week. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Rudd spent Saturday at Salt Lake City on business. SOCIAL SECURITY ADVISER HERE "The coverage of farmers under the 1954 Amendments to the Social Security Act has greatly increased the number of requests for information about social security from residents of northern Box Elder county," Jay M.
